jimbo80
I will admit I have been more of a reader here on FM more than anything, and I noticed one thing. It seems everyone has a certain style of fishing bass. Some guys only fish slop, some love spinner baits, some only fish rivers. I like to think I am a well rounded angler for the most part. I especially like to fish structure I can't see. ( weed lines, points, and sunken islands) I think that an angler that sticks to one game plan or tactic severely handicaps themselves. But I know I lack skills fishing crankbaits especially. So whats your style?
YUM
I prefer to fish slop.. especially on a muddy or stained lake
RobertELee
I like to fish pretty much everything, but I have noticed that I do lean more towards the jig-n-pig with crankbaits/spinnerbaits a close second and worms are not too far off. I'm trying to get better at the deeper structure but it is hard mainly because I can't see it and it feels too much like walleye fishing
EBass
Shallow water - cuz I can't swim.
Central Bassman
I like fishing shallow water but Now im starting to get out away from the banks and im loving it. I like the challange and i think ones you become good at fishing deep...fishing shallow is easy!!!
Bushwacker
I am definitely a slop fisherman at heart. I love fishing the thickest stuff I can find with eiter a jig, frog, or toad. I need to work on my deeper structure fishing, but I just have so much more fun in the shallow thick stuff.
tearin' lips
No particular style. I do what it takes to catch fish. I also like to fish a variety of water was well(clear/stained lakes and rivers). I like to be a versatile fisherman.(or I think so at least)
lookincalifornia
i have two fishing moods or modes. if i am impatient, i like to bounce a spinnerbait off of structure.(sticks, reeds, or rocks) but if the time is right(and it usually is), i throw frogs in the slop. i do recognize that i need to expand my comfort zone and throw some other types of lures, but slop is so fun. and ever since i was a kid, i liked frogs perhaps that is why i am able to work them so well
Tim_Anderson
I am a slop fisherman at heart. My go-to lures are spinnerbaits and scumfrogs. Love the challenge of getting a topwater strike, and then trying to get them out of the thickest slop you can find.
Slyster
I am REALLY into finesse fishing weedlines and bars.. senkos/comidas/tubes etc... Actually I really need to experiment a lot more... I did start having some real fun with topwater baits for the first time last fall.
TurnUpTheFishing
I mostly fish lakes and rarely fish bass in rivers. I love fishing shallow cover like lots of bass guys. Most often in the form of docks and overhangs. I fish them slow with jigs and plastics not just zipping through them with spinners or cranks. Now as I become a better angler I find myself venturing away from the banks investigating offshore structure. In the past year deep cranking has become a favorite technique and Im hoping to improve on it this year as well as jigworm and dropshot.
Deitz Dittrich
I saw this question either late last night or early this morning, and have given it thought much of the day... I almost wish I had a style, yet I am not sure I do? I am prety darn good at fishing a lot, but maybe not great at fishing anything... If I am fishing a tournament and flipping slop is on... I feel confident in cashing a check... I like throwing cranks.. think I am above average at fishing docks... Love to fish deep, but again, do not specialize in anthing 1 thing. I do know this.. the one thing I stink at... Its rivers!... I am not sure I have ever fished a river and placed anywhere near the money! No confidence! I do well on the Upper Croix, but not so well on the sippi down south! peeeeeeUUUUUU I stink!
Superduty
My style is to catch a big limit on a jig and weigh 'em in last!
Deitz Dittrich
Ive fished against SuperDuty, and he doesnt lie.. if the jig bite is on.. check is in hand!
st.crioxfishin
I am trying to become more versatile with every new season. I feel like I know a lot about fishing for bass, but still being young, I realize there is sooo much more to gain. The information and opportunities to improve are endless. I feel that I am pretty versatile, but my main strength would be fishing a jig in shallow cover. This is a great question! I'm having a hard time defining "my style"
Stratosman
I like others have no specific style. My style for the day is decided by the body of water and most importantly the fish....I do have a style however that I use to hone in on a bite. I usually start shallow with docks and slop and work my way out to the weedline using all the typical methods. Find whats working and go from there.I enjoy fishing all different methods, however I absolutely love an overcast breezy day when the weedbed bass move up the water column and hammer spinnerbaits! Fever
I too don't really think I have a style but working shallow cover out towards weed lines, drops and deeper stucture makes alot of sense. I think I have a tendancy to use a t -rigged worm, comidas, shallow cranks, frogs, and buzzbaits the most often in and around shallow cover & slop. I am going to make a point of getting better at a few deeper water tactics this season. I'll be out walleye fishing this weekend but I'll be thinking about bass fishing.... Is that bad? I feel guilty.
