nytelyter
i have done paintball ONCE! dont care if i ever doit again. but i have to say the guns need to be set up right. the place i went to had them rated for 200fps, i think, as it was an indoor arena. but it DID still hurt. lots of welts when i was done. ... paul
Gissert
OW! Man, I got a chuckle out of that, but that had to sting! No paintball for me.
Dan Thiem
Man can I relate to that! About five years ago my youngest got a Tipman just like that one. He's been in many paintball wars since and he is always getting those welts. Some bleed, some don't. Whenever the boys come over to our house for paintball wars it's a nasty site. jstirewalt
I remember those days of having multiple raised welts after playing paintball. I used to play every weekend with a group of about 15 guys. I does hurt, especially is areas that have soft skin (i.e. back, back of arms, neck etc.). A mask is a must! We always told ourselves that if it didn't hurt, you would care if you got shot. I think from the video, everyone cared about being shot! The paintball guns should be chronographed for speed. Indoor ranges allow anywhere between 200 to 250 feet per second and outdoor up to 300 FPS. Anything over that is dangerous! Paintball is a great game!Jeff
nofishfisherman
I played for the first time 2 years ago. I was walking on a trail the lead from the field we played on back to the staging area. The trail lead past 2 other fields that had some groups playing on them. One group of punks thought it would be funny to shoot a few of us as we walked past as we left our game. Probably 3-4 guys opened up on us and pelted us several times. Caught one in the back side that left a golf ball sized welt. Not sure why they shot at us, don't know if they were really clueless that the main trail ran next to their field maybe they thought we were part of their game. Regardless they weren't very smart. Never found out who they were, probably better that way i guess. Better for them atleast.
Farley
One night we were having a few brews on my buddies porch when he busted out his Tippman. My uncle has never shot one before and I figured he wouldnt be able to hit anything. I was pretty lit so I said "bet you cant hit a moving target" and took off full sprint off the deck (keep in mind I'm not a fast or gracefull runner) and he pelted me with about 10 of those rounds right in the back. As he was hitting me in the back, I'd put my hand up to try to block some of them and just got hit in the hand a bunch of times. Man, those things sting. Yeah, everyone had a good laugh about that one.But I've played paintball a few times and if you are all cammoed out in your hunting gear, it takes away most of the sting. Duffman
Funny stuff Dark. The first time I played paintball, the game was still in it's infancy. In fact the field we played on had tree's all stained with the oil based paints, the water based ones had just been developed. Single shot pistols were all that was available at the time, you had to load a new paitball into the chamber after every shot. These pistols were made to mark cattle at the stockyards. This was 24 years ago, and I lied about my age to play. What a blast! Ten years later I gave it another go, semi-auto guns and paintballs flying everywhere. Although it was fun, I was already wishing for the good ol' days of paintball, ya know, one shot-one kill.
jstirewalt
Duffman:Yea, I hear you on the new style of play. It was the same way when we started, single shot pistols, then sudo semi autos that had to be cocked everytime you shot. It seemed as though everyone was trying to one-up everyone else. By the time we stopped playing, full-auto, electropneumatic with multiple shot rates per trigger pull became the norm. We figured that if you got hit, multiple paintballs followed.JSS
nofishfisherman
yeah now days you are rarely hit once it seems. Its uaually about 10 or nothing.

DARK30
Well, his swelling has gone down a lot. He says he still wants to play the game but now understands the "fps" concept a lot better My wife Sandy really felt bad her "baby" got pegged so hard...but he took it pretty well considering....oh man...I still feel his pain....owee!. I think the old BB gun would be much more forgiving!
riverrat56
Yep, it can get kinda brutal playing paintball especially when its hot out and your only in shorts and a t-shirt. Left the feild many times bleating and banged up, but it's a great game, kind of on the expensive side though....

jig n' jerk
I don't think it is that horrible. If you wear the right clothing. I love the new guns with the 15 balls per second firing speed. But I must admit it is on the spendy side.
IndyEFI500
I once shot a guy square in the back after I told him to surrender and he ran. He was about 5 feet away. He had a red ring about 6 inches around the welt for two weeks. The welt was there for about a month. His dad was playing with us and he just shook his head and said "he gave you a chance to surrender, bummer". A few weeks later one of the guys bought a chrono so we started checking our guns. Mine in particular would never go below 290 fps and would occasionaly throw out a 350 fps+. Needless to say I got rid of it. At that time, tournament rules were 300 fps or under.
