Amsoil Saber (stupid question)

I couldn't find any Saber in a store near me so I logged on to amsoil's site and ordered (10) 1.5 oz pre-mix packs. On the site it doesn't say how much oil to use for 100-1 mix for a 1 gallon can but it does say I should use 2.6 oz for 1 gallon at 50-1. This is the stupid question...I should be able to use this 1.5 oz pack for the 100-1 mix. I know based on the above you would use 1.3 but I would guess the 1.5 would leave a little left in the pack so when I dump it in I would get close to the 1.3 oz. Just let me know if my thoughts are correct as I don't want to mix the wrong stuff with my Nils. Thanks.

I like using the amsoil 100:1 for all of my small 2 stroke engines, they run clean and you don't have to worry about all the different mixing ratios, you just run everything at 100:1. I mix up 45 ml or cc's of the oil with 1 gallon of gas. 1 ounce is 30 cc's, so 1.5oz=45cc (the premixed packet). It's much cheaper just to buy the bottle.

I've been meaning to switch to this stuff for awhile now.

Last winter, I mixed my snowmobile oil (Klotz synthetic) for the auger and it ran awesome. Only problem is, Klotz has a very unique smell and it still smokes a little. Lets just say it gets strong when augering out 8 holes in a permanent shack.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Amsoil Saber.

Now the big question... WHO CARRIES IT IN THE WEST METRO?

Hoggs, when I switched, I noticed, a lot less smoke, smoother running, and quick throttle response. Just seems like it runs so much smoother. And no more oilly buildup coming out of the exhaust!!!!

1.3 oz per 1 gal of gas is 100:1 , if you use the 1.5 oz packs (the way to go) it will make it 80:1 , Amsoil says it can be mixed up to 100:1 that is the max before it would cause any damage. The guy I buy it from in Fridley says 80:1 is the way to go to be safe it is only .2 oz difference not to burn up your auger. grin.gif

I have been running Amsoil 2 cycle for many years in in everyting from my outboard to my chainsaws and auger.I actually had to turn down the idle on my outboard when I first started using it and as someone already mentioned, one mix works for all 2 cycle engines. It's good stuff.

So less smoke & oily residue means....Not as much black gunk on the wall of the fish house & on the miniblinds in the house also! I'm in. So a 2 cycle Strikemaster would use the Amsoil Saber, not the saber commercial?

Ok I want to make sure I get this right. I have a chain saw, brush cutter and auger and it doesn't matter what I used to mix it at if I am going to use Amsoil Saber. I mix it 1.5 oz to 1 gal and can use this with all of my stuff? shocked.gif

MBurke, Use the Sabre Professional 100:1. The Interceptor is "usable" but (as per the Amsoil booklet) it's only rated as "Good". The Professional is the product rated "Excellent" for small 2 cycle engines and it will give you the best results. Chaffmj, Yep, ONE gas-can in the garage, ONE mix, all small 2 strokes (except outboards). That's the beauty of the product! Duckslayer, My Strikemaster auger(24:1) is where I started using Amsoil due to the smoke in and oil/exhaust spray on the house walls. Now, the smoke and spray are gone and the auger runs better (Cleaner, smoother, faster throttle response, and more power) than it did when it was new! It actually smells good!! Try it! You can always switch back, BUT, You WON'T! Phred52

I'm planning on switching over my auger this winter but have a question about some of the other 2-cycles. I know that Stihl pushs their products as higher end, etc.----any problems withn running the Amsoil Professional at 100:1 thru a leaf vacuum and trimmer made by Stihl? Any experience would make that change a bit easier on the mind.
