I was ice fishing a lot at the time I enrolled here. I was using those light Zapping things to charge my glo baits at the time. Still do. Also a big Simpsons fan but the characters were over used so I went with Matt Gronings other less succesful show Futurama and picked up on Zapp Brannigan a leader who became famous for beating the Kill bots by throwing wave after wave of men at them until they went past their preprogrammed killing amounts and shut down. I don't know why that's funny but it is. So altered the spelling a bit and that's the result.

If I'm not in a boat, I'm in an airplane, or want to be. One of my all-time favorite planes is one I haven't flown (yet) - the P-51 Mustang. The -B models and up had a British-designed Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, displaced something like 1760 cubic inches, had a two-stage supercharger, and put out slightly less than 1700hp, turning a 12-foot prop. The Brits used the same engine for their Spitfire and Hurricane fighters, and I think a bomber or two. It has a very memorable sound, one that people can pick out long before they see the plane.

Anyways, I'm a fairly "crappie" angler, and couldn't think of a good angling name, so I went with something I was more comfortable with.....

Fergus Mor McErc King of Scots of Dalriada.....my mother is into geneology and he's apparently some ancient grandfather of mine (on her side). He died in 501. He's regarded as the the first king of the Dal Riata, the people from which the Scottish kings are descended from.

V-12, that spitfire motor sounds BAD A-S!!

"Southerner" simply seemed right at the time. I moved to MN a few years ago from Savannah, GA. Although I don't get it as often now as in years past, it's still a regular occurrence at work or elsewhere when someone will ask where I'm from. I usually tell them "Duluth". laugh.gif Sometimes they actually believe me. laugh.gif

I almost had to change mine. Took the boat out one last time on Friday and only caught one sinking little northern. In the about eight years I've had my boat, I've only been "skunked once". The most expensive equipment and fishing skill will never replace "dumb luck". smile.gif

My Grandpa named his hunting shack up in Blackduck, MN, Alex and Jane's Bushwacker- There is actually a big sign out front that says that. My Grandpa died three years ago now after falling out of a tree stand bow hunting and Bushwacker is kind of a tribute to him. Now I am part owner of the property and there are 8 of us that go every year for deer opener and for fishing opener, plus about 15 weekends in between and we call ourselves the Bushwackers. One of the guys owns a bar so now we are acumulating a lot of custom printed "Bushwackers" promo gear.
