Cooter
Well now that turkey hunting is over its time to fish like the crazy man I am. I guarantee I'll hit the water 5 times a week until about the middle of July. How often you guys fish now that we're close to the June primetime? WAG416
Since opener 13 days ago I have been fishing 7 of them. Have 7 days planned for June(so far). I hope I still have someone to come home to after 4 days in Canada. WAG
Surface Tension
"5 days a week" can a guy have both?
leechlake
ST, from experience NO. Then again from experience it doesn't work out anyway....so might as well go fishing.
The Grebe
Last winter I must have fished 50 times...open water fishing thus far...3 times for Crappies after ice out and once last night, up to Mille Lacs, not a good first time out, I'll tell you that! Fisher Dave
I've been out just about every day this year since March.. minus a few days of obligations here and there.. throw in some lightning in the recent past... 5 days/nights a week sounds about right... but why slow down in July? There are too many species of fish to chase, something is always biting to an extent.
The Grebe
Dave...Usually I'm out a little more then I have been, but this rain has us back on our heels and there does'nt seem to be a break in it? I have worked the last several week-ends playing catch up and I have to go out again tommarrow. Monday being a holiday, we will be backed up again and if we get more rain....! Hey Dave, I could always figure out a way to grab some time off and give you a hand, if it would expedite the Floodwood deal?
outdoor ran
I use to get out fishing or hunting about 5 days a week but then came 3 kids. So I pretty much get out 1 or 2 times a week. Its not enough, but some day they will be big enough to come along more often.
pikerliker
Cooter you're obviously not married, have no kids, etc or you have the most understanding significant other in the world! I would love to hit the water that often but if I want my manhood to stay intact I have to keep it to 1 or 2 times per week. In my head and heart I'm out there everyday! ~pikerPS: You stole my nickname from high school!
Fisher Dave
Grebe.. my moving is pretty close to do.. I have about 1 load left... that can be done just about any time, not in a terrible hurry.Theres no need to take time off for your needs.. 2 hours, 15 minute drive from the cities.. A round trip isnt impossible in a day when including some test ride time.As for the other individual making the statement saying cooter has the most understanding significant other in the world... he cant have, I do... She tells me to go when I want, and go for as long as I like.. just as long as I dont push it to the point where I am neglecting the family.Isnt that how it should be? WAG416
I just have to justify that I am actually going fishing. So she needs proof that I actually go fishing and hunting that much. If I come home empty handed, she gets suspicious which has happened a couple of times. If its a catch and release trip, I better not forget my camera. Northlander
Im out at least 5 times a week. I am married but no kids. My wife likes that I have something I can do alone or with friends to relax. She has her hobbies as well. We have a understanding that we do what we like but make sure that we get time together. We even went as far as having a couples night out once a month with some of our friends. It works great. My wife isnt a big fisherperson but loves hot days in the boat. Those are the days we grab the dog and just go for a ride and maybe fish maybe picnic. I realize children need time with parents as much if not more than the next guy. I work in corrections. Therefore Im not foolish enough to think everyone can get as much time on the water as myself. Each couple needs to find THEIR own comfort level witrh this. Some couples just need more time together than others. Im just glad my wife isnt a women that needs me by her side all the time. She's a great wife! pikerliker
Hey Northlander it's not that my wife needs me by her side all the time. I have 3 kids who are in 5 different sports right now (3 in soccer-2 in baseball), 3 paper routes, 2 in music lessions, plus me and my wife work different shifts. I also volunteer for the local ambulance service. It would be impossible for me to go out 5 times a week and not interfere with my family time. It's not about a clingy or over controlling wife, it's about reality and taking care of my responsibilities. I just fing it hard to believe that I'm the only one in this "boat". ~piker
MNice
Pikerliker- Same boat here. I keep a log and have been fishing 10 days this year. I'm not complaining, 2 girls still in high school, softball, volleyball, etc. eats up time. I wouldn't change a thing, a few more years and it's just me & mama, and she doesn't fish, so I'll have all the time I need.
Northlander
Piker I hope you didnt take my post personel. I realize everyone has priorities in life. People with kids have way different ones than I do. Volunteering for a cause is great! Without volunteers a lot of causes wouldnt make it. Have a great summer and enjoy what time you do get on the water. not_nuf_time
Piker I hear ya for the last eight years Ive coached house and travel Basketball, soccer, and softball sometimes two teams at one time. My kids range from 10-15 years all three are in two sports at one time, so this really knocks down fishing and hunting time. Ive managed to get out on ten diff. days since opener, thanks to an understanding wife. Check out my excuse to get out this weekend-wont be able to make it to the cabin for a month or so, So guess what, the weedwhip is at the cabin, and I have to go get it. My oldest girls team made the state softball tournament, so down to Mankato next weekend. For sure no fishing.

pikerliker
LOL I like it! Your name says it all not nuf! Hey Northlander I didn't take offense, I was just giving my side. My wife and I try to help each other out too with giving time for things we each like to do and I'm thankful that I get my 1-2 times per week. It can be a challange doing that! Like I said before in my heart I'm out on the water every day. This web site helps with that! I just get a little jealous sometimes of those who get to go fishing as many times as some of the guys on this site. Good fishing guys!~piker
Ole #1
I go as much as my wife, boys and work let me. I must say that I do have one heck of a wife to let me fish as much as I do. It's tough to go often when you have young children, you have to help out the wife and stay home sometimes. But now my boys are getting to that age where they can fish with me when I go, or the whole family goes.
