2022 deer season

Well he made a standing 80 yard shot on this doe and dropped it.  Can’t be more proud of this kid!!  From 3 months ago having no desire to hunt, to now putting his first one on the ground, it has been a ride, and I look forward to many seasons to come!!!

Ok I might have a dilemma.  I already bought my Deer license for one zone but now have been invited to hunt with some of my wives relatives on their land in a different zone.  Anyone ever tried to switch tag zone as long as it's still before season?  Or can you?  

 

Maybe I'm good?

"You won’t be restricted to hunting in the deer area you indicate. The DNR uses this information to assess hunter success and how many people are hunting a given area. Also, it enables the DNR to easily survey hunters based where they hunt."

So you won't be sitting in " THE CHAIR"!

 

I think your good. Only thing would be if you have an anterless permit.  You can't tag an anterless deer in different permit areas that is listed on your permit.

Yeah if it works out I would have hunted in 172 public wolve infested land to 249 private.   Didn't have a Doe permit anyway.

You effectively have a statewide A season license, buck only.

Well for those seasons when I just want to get one in cooler, it happened quick.  Just had to wait for legal shooting time since he spent about 10 minutes letting me know I could have him if I wanted him.  One shot through the top of his shoulder, down through the heart.  Dropped in his tracks. Yep, that close.

One could call him a 7 pointer I suppose.  Doesn’t matter.  Very few shots around here this morning so I’m happy.

We have a 3 deer limit and I didn’t want to shoot a doe cuz we’re not seeing many.  Very few shots fired this fired this morning and more, but not many more, fired tonight.  I don’t think I’ll even sit tomorrow morning.

 

Hopefully you see some antler tomorrow.

Yeah it's dead up here "you know where". Only heard about 7 shots in the morning and not one in the evening and there are a ton of guys up here. Pretty sure I'm done in this area after this year!

Thought you had a chance to hunt with the rellies?

 

About the only thing good for deer hunting I’ve found in “you know where” is that there’s a lot of ground to cover.  It’s a big haystack when you’re looking for needles.  
 

There’s some fun stuff to explore but even being a sneaky bastard, I never came close to filling a buck tag along that road.

Found out on the relatives land, they only shoot Doe's opening weekend and I don't have a Doe tag. Might get in second weekend. Maybe you can knock down a Doe on one of those extra tags you got and I'll swing by and pick it up on the way home!

It was an odd day. Started out warmer then the day before, and clam.  Wind started picking up a little then all of a sudden I thought a jet was going to crash in the woods the gust was so loud and fast.  Then it just kept getting worse all day. My cargo trailer camper was dog-legging behind me most of the way home.  Lot's of top soil lost today.  Around Becker it look like a thick brown fog!
