I learned something the past week!!!!!!!!! they like sunflowers and safflower seeds too!!!!! also a good mix for the red breasted grosbeaks, but ithink they like a more wooded area as I don't see to many here intown. when we had the camper I had 4 pair of them. eyeguy 54
yes indeed, they need a ledge. grab a seed, turn around and eat while surveying the area. I have this one filled with oils, they really like the ledge.for the meal worms I have one now with a mesh tray and a hood. rain wont turn them to mush. also 2 large tube feeders filled with oils for others. Hawg
Doves this week in Brainerd. We must be close to northern winter range because I never see them during the winter. eyeguy 54
JBMasterAngler
Was a bonanza at my feeders today. Dozens of Juncos, gold finches, red winged blackbirds, robins, and chickadees. A new group of birds were out there today as well, I think they were song sparrows. Fun watching all the craziness.

JBMasterAngler
The sparrows in my yard look like that, except they had more distinct markings on their face. I’ve had fox sparrows before. I like watching them feed on the ground, they jump up and scratch the dirt with their feet.
eyeguy 54
yes indeed, busy scratching the ground and digging. I havnt seen the song sparrows yet but should soon. Usually they come about the same as the white throats. Cool seeing the foxes. Been a while. Mrs P stopped by a bit ago looking for a treat. Lotta birds around again. Song sparrow has a brown stripe on head, fox head is pretty grey smurfy
