Ah ha.....this is too funny! A special Sunday was when my Dad would take us down to Walter's Flame for Dinner...or across the Street to the Fish House. That was very special to be able to eat out in the mid 60's for us. Ate many times at the Stables with my Mom and her jerk husband. Me and my work buddies headed down to The Branding Iron many a Friday nite for cocktails and food.  Don't forget Anchor Inn, aka "shrimp gluttony". Easter dinner at the Holiday House......and as for the 7th Rib, I kid you not, look what I've been wearing all day.......

WT...???? Too funny indeed!!!!! I was wondering the other day about what happened to all those Anchor Inns? Went to the one in Wabasha a few times. Used to be one up on Hwy 10 not far from St. Paul campus. Had to be rolled out of there on numerous occasions. Of course they weren't supper clubs, but those Best Steak Houses that used to dot the Twin Cities disappeared too. It was amazing what they could do with a lot of MSG on a hunk of old cow! I see Sanders 1809 in Grand Forks got renamed Sky's. What was that all about? I also see MacJohn's in Devils Lake turned into Felix's and looks like they went teats up. What on earth is this world coming to?

They also used that meat tenderizer stuff on the steaks.  Used to be some sort of cheap steak place in Rochester, Miracle Mile center maybe?  Got a steak there once that the tenderizer application was sort of uneven so one bite would be tough and the next was almost mush.

Posted about the rib and the fish house and hubble house and branding iron in the supper club thread before I saw this.  Apologies to all.

my son told my wife this weekend that she "babies" our daughter.

Every morning he wanders downstairs before school plops his rear end on the couch and turns ESPN on and Deb makes him bacon and eggs delivered to the couch.  I guess that's different than being babied.

Putting up with the riff raff. Got one customer who comes in every dam day, sits in my office to tell me how rotten the Gopher men's basketball team is. That's pretty self-explanatory so I grunt, mumble and try to look busy. Unbelievable. This guy has chores to do too yet he comes into town every day to get a Star and Sickle, sit around, drink coffee and annoy people first. He obviously never had the pleasure of of growing up around my Dad. Dad's footprints would be all over our backsides if we didn't get chores done the instant we rolled out of bed. He always said the animals eat first, then you eat. On a more pleasant note, I see my milk jug is starting to puff out meaning I better sniff it before pouring. I enjoy living on the edge. :)

Sheesh! I'm the only one up?   23* and still dark out....30's for today. Getting ready for the gun show here this weekend. I doubt if I'll ever sell it, but one of the guns I'll be taking is a 1980 S&W .357 Model 19 combat Magnum  in 4" with the walnut grips, with the recessed and pinned barrel ...in the original box with all papers, rated "pristine". I see the few like this online are going for 1G and upwards. It was my first duty gun before I switched depts and went to the semi-autos's. I need lots more .40 ammo too, should be able to grab some bargains there. Gonna call up a few guys and see if we can hit the ice for some fishing next week, boy am I ready to go!!! Time to rustle up a few eggs and sausage...have a good day guys!  :)

I didn't win the Powerball either. :(

3 won the Powerball it looks like, thank God someone won.  Btw I'm not a lottery player but did buy one based on the fortune cookie numbers Matt brought home yesterday and did some research.  Seems the Mega Ball lottery is a better value, lower odds and only a buck, pot gets up into tens of millions plus very often.

Big day today, not all good but I'm excited to resolve some things.  I did a favor for a guy I know a bit and he bought me a real nice bottle of canadian whiskey last night.  First time that's happened since I quit drinking, I chose to just say "thank you and it certainly wasn't necessary" because I didn't want to be rude.  A home for that will easily be found today.

Son got in a fight/scrum at a hockey game last night, no punches thrown but sounds like ref thought it was worthy of further action.  Will find out today, hopefully, what that means but I believe Junior is going to learn a lesson.  Always hard to know what to do or say but I told him a simple line today to say at school when he gets asked about it and then he will have to face whatever consequences and learn from it.  I guess we could claim he was wronged like many do but that's not going to happen.

Good morning.  I did get up around 5 am as usual.  Checked all four of my powerball tickets and to my shock didn't win.  Maybe next time.  I would rather they lower the amount of numbers and make the jackpots smaller.  Win that kind of money and you have to hire security.  Fixed some eggs and bacon and scarfed that down.  Have to clean up the house a bit today and get ready for the grandkids to mess it up again LOL.  Bringing along a lab to babysit for a couple of days also.  Lucy my lab will be happy.  She's just getting over the rag so Koda will be excited to see her for sure. I'll have to put a Hillary Clinton Mask on her rear end to keep him away.  He's fixed so he can go through the motion's but Lucy will have no part of it LOL.  Thinking about ice fishing next week so I better get some rods ready as well.  Making Korean hot chicken tonight to clear the airways.  Man that stuff is good.  I'll have to make some fresh cucumber kimchi today.  good luck.

Been a whirlwind morning in the office after chores. Warmer temps seem to make people more active. Imagine that. Have had guys coming in with checkbooks in hand so as I was always taught, never turn down money. Lotsa non-work related phone calls too that have been back-burnered for the time being. Gotta do payroll and then I can think about lunch. Luckily I missed the office pest today. I wonder if Plunkett's has anything that will control him? Prime rib samich day on Thursdays at the Willows so things are looking up. :)

Nah, that's on thursday.   But a bowl of mini wheats isn't worth a picture and photo.  Did get out the chemex and grind beans since our daughter was here due to appt at mayo yesterday.

Up and at em

slow down, at 630am I walked in kitchen and "Polly Perkie" asked me three questions before I could answer one.  I answered none and grabbed some coffee.  Here's my morning comments:

I used to get up at some ridiculous hours and start working, not real work...desk paper work stuff :)  When it leaked into the 430 am kind of area it bothered me.  As much as I tried to be quite it disturbs others.  Waking up really early seems like some badge of honor.  I don't mean those that have done it for years for work, chores, or other stuff and are programmed to it.  I mean the person who announces it to the world and frankly the biggest thing is they look down on someone that doesn't do what they do.  "I leave for work at 6am every day, some people don't show up til 745!!!"

I see Dotch does his chores first thing, learned it from his dad and I love that, Reb is an early riser from years of doing it, my wife's boss shows up for work at 10am I guess and works til near midnight.

Finally, I also thought being tired in the morning was some weakness.  I went to bed during the debate last night around 930 and woke up and I was tired and still am, kind of got a scowly face on right now as I type this and was on the phone a few times.  Maybe I'm just excited to hear "Everybodies Working for the Weekend" at 5pm!

Good Morning!!  Getting ready for the small army of grandkids today plus one lab for the weekend.  Have to do a little junk food shopping along with my regular shopping.  Toys all neatly put away just to be "re-distributed" throughout the weekend.  Vacuum a little also.  Was going to mop the kitchen and dining room but I think I'll hold off till next week.  Between the kids and two dogs That effort may be futile.  Friday when the kids come have become traditional spaghetti nights.  I ask them what they want and it's spaghetti all the time.  I'll have left over Korean hot chicken.  Hope everyone has a great day.  good luck.
