Popular Post leechlake
made a chuck roast tonight in the pressure cooker last minute. I'm scrapping the crockpot for now on. Browned it and cooked at full pressure for one hour. The thing was absolutely perfect. Cup and half of water and one beef bullion cube and a few splashes of worcestshire sauce on top. No more 8 hour crock pot adventures and the pain clean up since I forget to put a bag in it . reinhard1
I haven't done a pot roast yet but the pressure cooker is awesome for fast meals. Just getting used to it now, but it will be a great tool to have in the kitchen. good luck.
Boar
Ive been wanting to use ours, but even tho the wife bought it, she afraid of it , "Its a bomb" we have a good one, never been used, now cant find the directions.
gunner55
We've done it with a roast a few times even ones that had already been cooked in a crockpot or the oven but came out too chewy for our liking. A short time in the pressure cooker & it's much better IMO.

reinhard1
I've found I've had the best results for me to just set the time that I think the meal needs and let her rip. Go all kinds of buttons for stews, soups, ect but I just set the time and turn it on. good luck.
leechlake
Boar- I will give this whirl and tell you what mine does/has. Maybe yours is similar. You need to have about a cup ofr more of liquid in it. Lock the handle "button" there is basically locked/unlocked lever switch on mine. The presuure option nob is either half open allowing some steam and pressure out or closed allowing no pressure out. When I lock it and then close it allowing no pressure out I get it up to pressure and a button pops up showing that. I then turn down to about medium or medium low heat to keep the pressure button up.Once done cooking point the thing in the right direction and release the pressure/steam by switching it to half open and taking off of heat. Once the button goes down you then can safely open the pot by unlocking it.If there is a concern with safety keep the steam escape direction in a safe one. They don't sell lawn Jarts anymore due to danger and liability. The still sell pressure cookers because they are safer than lawn jarts. I bet you may have some jarts somewhere in some shed around your place? Go for it. Edited December 16, 2015 by leechlake

LindellProStaf
Glad to know Leech. We just got one recently and haven't done a roast yet. Was your roast completely thawed out? I wondered about putting a frozen one in? I did some frozen chicken wings. Took 10 minutes of cooking and then put under broiler to get browned for 5 minutes. Worked great. My Grandma did everything in her pressure cooker and everything she ever cooked was awesome.

delcecchi
You might want to do some proofreading there, Boar. I know it's a phone and all, but just the same. smurfy

Lindell- I pulled it out of freezer and thawed it in microwave mostly on full power since I don't care if the edges get kind of done, at the end I put it on defrost mode. It was 90% defrosted with a smidge kind of hard in the middle of roast. Took me about ten minutes or so in microwave with probably 6-7 minutes on high and balance on defrost. Like I said I was under a time constraint so that's why I used pressure cooker. I guess if she blows some day I may also get in a head on collision with a Grizzly bear that is in a Union on the same day. I'm a gambler I guess. (I don't want to hear it...my dad was in the Bricklayer Union for 50 years but he didn't have a Kool Aid red mustache ) You might want to do some proofreading there, Boar. I know it's a phone and all, but just the same. Del- I disagree. I can read all of Boars just fine. It makes me feel like I know three languages instead of two; Enlgish, French, and Boaranese... I'm working on OTCese but struggling with that one. Edited December 16, 2015 by leechlake smurfy

leechlake
Ha! I finally found a word I can use other than the other benign words that get changed. I called my wife that word once almost 20 years ago and it was my birthday. I ate dinner alone that night but we had lobster so I got two. I thought it was just a word. I learned something that day. leechlake
since this thread has turned into a OBGYN thing let's derail it on purpose.Smurf- where was the Thermos factory you worked at? My brother in laws cousin worked at one and I wonder if you worked with him? He attached the handles to the quart sized ones for 14 years before he went to be a quality control manager. Did you ever move up past the assembly line? He always liked working for the Thermos company but the problem he always said was that they were so good to people nobody left so making it up the ladder was hard. They had an hour and 45 minutes of breaks every day!!! Can you imagine that?Anyway, small world...
