New truck-bedliner and cover

Recommended Posts

Just bought a new truck. I'm thinking of doing the Line-X on the bed. Anyone have a review on this product?

Also, I'm looking for a Tonneau cover. I'm aware of the truxedo brand, but am wondering if there are any good quality, less expensive options?

Thanks

When I bought my new F-150 three years ago, I had Line-X do the bed/tailgate. The guy that did it was meticulous, no issues with it. Can't seem to hurt it. BUT, don't crawl around on it on your knees, it sure ain't soft. It's pretty rough, which also means wiping it out with a rag/towel will get you a lot of "fuzzies" stuck to it. Other than that, just hose it out/blow dry. Seems bonded right to the truck, don't know how you could hurt it.

I looked at all the Tonneau covers, as my buddy owns a truck accessory shop. He recommended, and I also picked, the Access Lorado roll-up covers. My neighbor 3 doors down has the Truxedo, IMO the Access is just a lot heavier/better built. Have used them both; I like mine a lot better. Has the locking slide tab on it; not sure the Truxedo can be locked. Happy I went with the Access. Not one problem in three years. Good luck!

I have the LineX and the Access cover. I like them both and have not had any issues with either product but I only haul a six pack of root beer and a couple of fishing rods in the back. HaHa!! The tonneau cover does not keep all of the water out of the bed but it does a good job on most of it. I put most of my stuff in plastic totes and they don't seem to slid around. I am looking at putting a topper on the truck so I can go above the side of the bed with what ever I am carrying but then you are limited in being able to take the topper off without much problem.

My old Rangers had Truxedos which I always liked. My current truck got an Access cover last spring. I like the look of it much better, it seems more taught, and keeps my bed very dry. All covers should keep your bed completely dry if sized correctly for your truck and installed properly. My only negative about the Access cover is that I don't like the pull-down strap used to open it up - I preferred the flip lever on the Truxedo covers. However, I like the Access cover better overall.

If you're not really hung up on the Line-X, check out rhino liner. I REALLY liked it on my dodge. It seemed grippy enough but wasn't overly rough on skin or anything like that if you were up there on your knees. A bit more of a rubber-y feel to it I guess is how I'd describe it.

It's a truck bed. Go buy some ply wood cut it to fit then go buy a gun. Remember it's a truck bed.

I have Line X done in St. Cloud. It is great, well worth it. I did need to trim the rubber stops on my tail gate a little as the extra depth of the spray in caused some closing issues this Winter when the rubber stops were frozen solid.

I had Line-X on my last two trucks and it is definitely a great product. I do have two small complaints on it however. As mentioned earier, it is definitely hard on the knees when crawling around back there. Your cargo also slides around in the bed as the Line-X doesn't have much grip.

I bought a 2014 GMC Sierra crew cab in January and put in a WeatherTech Techliner bed and tailgate liners. So far I have been very satisfied with it. It is custom fit to the bed of the truck and it has great grip and is easy to clean. Its removeable and costs about half of what Line-X costs.

Time will tell if I think it is a good substitute for a spray-in liner.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
