nofishfisherman
Alright I'll be "that" guy that we all know is going to chime in sooner or later. Did he say he got his limit of pike on back to back days? Possession limit anyone? Sorry couldn't resist.

20lbSloughShark
Its definitely pelican, you can just drive around that heave to the right. The video is dated january 2nd, he says its a saturday, so I assume its on december 28th. I was there that day. It was possibly the best day of fishing I've ever had. 26 degrees sounds about right, it got up to 35 or something. BTW a 20 pound mono or fluoro leader is only asking for problems. live4chrome
+ 2 Zach. I can't see how anyone can even stand to fish in the cities anymore. What a zoo
CAMAN
Its sad to see northerns in the 30 range on the ice They'll all be dead in a year or two anyway.
live4chrome
I have caught plenty of big pike out of sloughs no deeper than 8 feet. one of my favorite pike lakes ever was only 6 feet deep before it got fished out.
2thepointsetters
It was hard not to laugh at about 3 and half minutes in when his rod disappears.

BartmanMN
It was hard not to laugh at about 3 and half minutes in when his rod disappears. In his 4th video he ties the rods to his chair. Lesson learned.
borg0196
Not rush.... Fell on the floor laughing when he lost that rod.
RiverDewey
Thanks for sharing the video. Great job catching those pike.I agree - that was hilarious (if you want to skip to the good part go to 3:20)BTW a 20 pound mono or fluoro leader is only asking for problems. How about 4# mono? I brought home a 23" pike from there a week or two ago caught on a 1/32nd oz jig and a wax worm on 4# mono. My buddy had what probably was a 28 or 30" pike on his 5# line (same kind of jig/wax worm) but lost it on the third run. We saw it several times at the hole but he couldn't quite turn it. Didn't break the line either!
DLD24
Ive got 2 pike a little over 30" on 4lb test this yr up at Red....Just gotta hope ya hook em in the beak and a good reel
20lbSloughShark
Yes the key is to keep the hook in the lip, and the end out of it. Its easy with a crappie jig, you set the hook within seconds. If you give them any time to have the bait, you never know what your going to get. He snaps his line just setting the hook, that should be enough evidence. I've been messing around with 50# fluorocarbon, and it usually allows a good fight, but I have been bitten off a few times now. I think 80# fluorocarbon might be more in the range for pike. But no, 4# anything wont last a second if it touches teeth, I have plenty of experience with that too. In a lake as dark as pelican, I use all steel leaders. Actually the steel with spinner blades caught fish 2:1 versus someone I was fishing with who swore by 30# mono. Its usually much different in clearer lakes. vikingmeatwad
If I see the guy that posted this video I am going to give him some bobbers and maybe a new ice fishing rod.I do not fish it but I really hope they do not draw down Pelican.
