Evidence of Owl Hunting

Out on the snowmobile and came across these impressions of an owl that had been hunting mice. In one shot you can see the trail of a mouse across the snow, ending where the owl nabbed it. In another you can see a small amount of blood - another mouse "bites the dust". This particular field had dozens of similar imprints.

Owl got a rabbit last week in my yard, but by the time I went in to grab the cammera to get some pics of the crime scene my 4 labs had investigated it to the point of non recogition.. lloked very similar to your photo's but much more blood and fur..

I was told that the impressions in the snow were likely made by a snowy owl. I later watched this barred owl in our backyard. It took three mice that we saw and has been back several times since.
