They are looking better. Hopefully we'll get to a new years day (or later) bowl game one of these years. As long as they keep improving a little each year it will happen. Defense is looking like it's up to BigTen standards, just need to get that offense up to speed. Ski U Mah

Well there were defensive issues too. The big touchdown run by their RB in the first quarter...not a Gopher defender within 10 yards the entire way. The 4th down TD pass over Shabazz was dreadful. That QB heaved up a hail-mary throw and we only had one defender nearby and he wasn't even close enough to make the play. Too many 3rd and 4th downs converted early on.

I wouldn't say that we're up to Big Ten standards yet, but we are making progress and that makes me happy. Hageman played pretty well and hopefully he becomes a one-man wrecking crew.

The D looked poor giving up the big plays and the O other than Nelson's run and the end of the half drive looked poor. I hope they improve alot between now and the end of September for the Big 10 opener!!

Western Illinois is a game the gophers SHOULD win by at least 3 TD's. Typically this would be a game where the young guys would see some playing time, but since all our starters are the young guys, I hope Kill keeps them in there into the 4th quarter. They need as much experience as possible before the conference schedule starts. Too bad this game won't get them any closer to a top 25 ranking.

We were at the Western Illinois game Saturday, saw some bright spots, 2nd QB played well, not much difference from the starter and their special teams play well. Hageman had a decent game, despite being double teamed a lot. What worries me is that our o-line had very little success until the smaller W Ill. linemen got worn down, that won't happen against most big ten def linemen. Also the d-backs struggled against the pass at times. With the quality QB that San Jose State has, that could spell trouble. I'm glad we have them and Iowa home in the next two weeks. I'm thinking we will need a little luck to beat either of them, but 4-0 and then 5-0 would be great. I might be dreaming.

Another good win for the gophers today. Clearly our pass defense needs some help, but were still able to make some big plays when it mattered the most! I like this freshman kid, but for now I hope we don't need his arm to win games. The run game overall was good. The iowa game is very winnable. Would be great to have an undefeated showdown against michigan (who by the way, has looked very vulnerable to inferior competition 2 weeks in a row)!

We need to improve in the pass game or we have no chance against Big 10 competition.

Nelson is the better passer but has not shown what he can really do yet...the kid from Lakeville played a very good game today.

It would be nice if they could knock off one of the teams they'll see in the next three weeks. A 7 win season would be progress but they'll have to battle their a$$ off to get there.

They gave up a ton of passing yards but Fales is one of the best qbs out there. He is rocketing up the qb chart. We definitely need to get the passing game going. But a win is a win and they definitely have the rushing attack back well against inferior opponents. Measuring stick games coming up.

They are improving no doubt and I like the way Kill has done things. With that said the defense still looks pourous at times, I am not sure we will be able to pass when we need to. I see us having a chance with Iowa here and Indiana later in the season beyond that I don't see more than two big ten wins. Hope I am wrong.

I don't believe the big ten is the worst conference in the NCAA. I'd rank them ahead of the big 12, ACC, and the american conference (or whatever it's called). Nor do I believe the gophers will finish at the bottom. We'll for sure be ahead of indiana and purdue, and should be ahead of iowa and penn state. And I think this will be the year we finally get an upset win (Michigan or Nebraska perhaps?)

Trading field goals for touchdowns. Almost seems like the remnants of the coaching staff called the game as if covering the spread equated to a win. What a complete waste of tax payer dollars this program is. Drop down to FBS and join the Dakota schools where a guaranteed doormat spot isn't atomatically assumed.

Fire Jerry and his staff.....If he can't be there and doesn't have a staff that wants to win and is happy to be on the field well fire them they are worthless.........If ho dunk Iowa can field a competieve team then we should be able to every 10 years or so.
