The Bible

Wether anyone believes in God or not (I do), it takes a lot more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe God is the creator of the universe! I used to believe in evolution and the big bang, and all that other fun stuff...on the surface it all makes sense, but if you start to look at the specifics and details, the thought that evolution could ever exist is alot more laughable than someone believing in God. The human body (and all other life forms) are so complicated and complex, that no other explanation other than creation from a higher power makes sense!

I highly recommend the book "the case for a creator" (written by a non believer). This book contains numerous references, research, and quotes from scientists, scholars, preachers, universities, etc from all over the world from last 100+ years. One of the better references was a letter written by Darwin to another scientist about his doubts about evolution based solely on the complexity of the human eye.

*sigh*

In the end both really have little explanation of the beginning or the end... and plenty of filler in between... When I die... I'll know...

Live a life that makes you happy... Not one you're hoping will save your arse when the end is near

Aint that the truth...

I don't preach my beliefs but when you start to defend your own beliefs and try to make the "other side" believe the same as yourself it really is pointless. The fact is that we are all diffenert and all believe in something different in one way or another. The main thing in this life is to live it to where you feel good about yourself and treat others how you want to be treated. Pretty Easy...

I have laughed how a heads up about a show has turned into do you or don't you believe and if you do believe back it up...

If you are curious on my take well then you just have too much time on your hands and not enough troubles to worry about...good for you!! haha

Take care,

OZ

These threads on this subject are kind of all a like and end the same way with all the nonbelievers milling around at the end like sharks looking for the last believer who has not just given up to bite on. Look back at all the posts and see the way replys were given in tone and wonder why some are the way they are? There's a lot of hatefull name callers out there sad to say. frown

Good luck and God bless you! Got to get ready to head up fishing at the Bash at dark 30 AM! smile

I thought this thread was about the Bible, not about "religion"

Could it be that Aliens visited ancient Sumeria? Could it be that the "Annunaki" people that visited passed their genetics on to the earthlings and thats what EVULOOOTON came from? How in 2500 years do we go from hunter-gather to putting a man on the moon? Could it be.... Ancient Aliens?????

I am amzed that I haven't read anyone agree or disagree with the quality of acting being distracting to this to the point of being unable to watch it.

Jeeze. I don't care what religion you are or aren't. The bible is a book. It is an interesting one at that, especially if you know or study the historical context.

Again, the history channel really screwed it up, in that theres no way for you to pay attentio to anyting except "My WORD how bad can these actors actually be and still qualify as "ACTORS"

He died for the sin of all of us. Talk about sacrifice.

Yes, that was the ultimate sacrifice. ( and this is not directed at you but a general observation)You would think that the so called christian conservatives would somehow read, understand and follow the idea of sacrifice but it seems that the CC's have more of an entitlement mindset where they believe everything belongs and is owed to them rather than offered to them and allowed by the god they follow.

One of the parts of the bible that I have always been guided by personally is the part where, after John the baptist was beheaded, Jesus went away to try and mourn in peace but thousands followed him. Instead of turning away the sick because they had no money he healed them. When the crowd was hungry and there was no food he didn't call them lazy, entitled or the 47% who don't contribute, he asked if anyone had any food. And when one boy had 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread he didn't say that that boy worked harder for what he had so he should keep it, instead the boy offered the loaves and everyone was fed from it. Can you imagine what would happen to the CC's today if they were asked to share what they had so that everyone could eat? To me the whole lot of the religious leaders in this country have become like the worshipers of the golden calf when Moses was up on the mountain. But then again what do I know, I am probably wrong.

I've found most CC's are much more into Old Testament fire and brimstone

than "The Sermon on the Mount" JMO.

wish there could be cameras when believers die to only find out, theres nothing but dead wink

neither will happen, keep drinking the religious machines kool aid...its a power psychologically persuasive cult that is effective at brainwashing folks...thats one thing that has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt out of the bible...

Would it be wrong for me to want to be there when certain people actually meet Jesus?

If you are saying, "I hope that I see these guys in heaven meeting Jesus and I can say "Welcome,"" it's not wrong.

Otherwise, yeah. Probably not a very good way to think.

Yep nothing but dead, but I look at this way if I'm wrong oh well know big deal and if your wrong lets just say the Bible does spell out what that will be like.

So I guess in this situation I won't have a problem being wrong wink

exactly & why the weak will grab at straws because their too afraid to accept death as final or have simply been that brainwashed...which typically starts with the young impressionable minds when they are indoctrinated into the cult at a young age as did their parents, so the cycle continues...

rest assured, your faith will be in vain once that heart stops...with having wasted whatever amount of time of your valuable living life, the only one you have on your faith that was never real...

actually makes me appreciate life that much more knowing and accepting death as just apart of the natural cycle of life, in the evolutionary natural world & when its over, its over wink

To each his own.

Makes perfect sense to me. If religious people would actually live by this, us godless heathens would gladly mind our own business and probably even quit hijacking your threads grin

Caught only parts of the show, and as I expected, it was just another depiction of the same very familiar Sunday school stories we all grew up with. Yeah, I went to Sunday school shockedshocked:o, got baptized, confirmed and married in the church. Contrary to popular belief, most of us non-believers were not raised by liberal evolutionary biologist hippies laugh
