Welcome to HSO! Above the reply box where you make a post, the fourth symbol over from the smilie face is an icon with a blue arrow pointing up. After you click on this it will ask you to "choose", which will take you to your computers files, after this, simply click on the "add file" option; after it loads click on "done adding files". Look forward to seeing some of yours!

If you decide to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket the instruction are a little different. There are instruction posted at the top of the photography forum. It also tells how to add a picture for a avatar.

I guess I don't pay attention very well, I must still be back in 2002. Cool feature though, I've got a ton of political meme's using up my photobucket space!

What I don't get is some pictures it up loads right away and the rest I have to crop upwards of three times before the site let's it go through. What's the secret?

The file has to be small enough, under 3MB as I recall. You can crop it or you can save it with less resolution, using a program like picasa or some other photo program. When exporting it will ask what quality and resolution.
