gopher_nation
Just curious to see where people stand. As soon as making the playoffs was impossible were you... A) Set on losing every game, mad if we won. Better draft pick Ok with losing, but always happy with a win C) Losing is never ok. Pride on the line, must win. D) Who are the Vikings? Or add your own opinions...
nofishfisherman
E) As long as the Packers lose then everythings fine.Either that or a combination of A and B. Not mad that they won a game but I'd rather see a brighter future with a higher draft pick.
paceman
I spent most of the season in the "B" arena...

Scott K
DI really am not a band wagon fan, but this year I just found better things to do with my time, rather then shaking my head watching a football game. Kinda enjoyed it as well.
LABS4ME
F) glad to see them move to LA... but wish they were still around for my beloved Packers to beat up on twice a year! Good Luck! Ken

Majestic
EWondering why they win when they should lose and lose when they should win, also have to question why they play injured star players in games that don't matter. Why would a fan want them to win a meaningless game? I can see players and coaches wanting to win, but what did that win last week do for you fans? Are you stoked with that win?
Scott M
B and D. Of course the Vikings win games when they are supposed to lose, it's the most cursed franchise in the NFL! I agree with Majestic, management and players look at it completely different than fans.
alleyes
I lean towards B, and a pack loss is every bit as enjoyable as a Vikes win!
2k1stang
also have to question why they play injured star players in games that don't matter. Why would a fan want them to win a meaningless game? I can see players and coaches wanting to win, but what did that win last week do for you fans? Are you stoked with that win? I agree with these points. Peterson was hurt, and the opposing defense obviously knew that, so they were targeting his injury. Now it just got a heck of a lot worse. Everything I've read about AP, I don't doubt he'll start the first game of next season. He's a freak of nature and he has the drive of a freight train. Even still, this team collectively will suck again next year.

Why dont they let every team opt out of any games they want and forfeit after they are out of the playoffs, this will ensure no one gets hurt. Will also help with getting a better draft pick. I pick C , if they dont they will always be losers.

LABS4ME
It amazes me the amount of people that say the Vikes should have sat their starters... There is plenty of reasons why they didn't...1) They get played millions to play by the owners, not sit on the bench. Injuries can happen on the last game or the 1st game of the season. Would it have been better if Peterson was hurt during a pre-season game? Or should they sit all starters through the pre-season also...2) Players contracts are incentive laden. They need to play to have an opportunity at maximizing their potential earnings. I would like to see what a player would say to an owner group if he felt he could play and they sat him for potential future duty... I think APs 100 million dollar contract only had 40 or 50 million guarnteed, the rest was incentives.... 3) AP wanted to play. He said he was good to go. He wanted to play a week earlier. The medical staff cleared him. The knee injury had nothing to do with his ankle sprain. Had he never had an ankle sprain and recieved that same tackle, he still would have the same knee injury...4) Many players are playing for future contracts, next year with the Vikes or amybe even another team. They want to maximize their potential earnings by playing.5) The Vikes still wanted to win and go in to the offseason with momentum, much the same as the Lions did last year... winning thlast 3 games would have felt a whole lot beeter to the team going into the offseason than only winning one of their last 3. As professionals, that had to try....Now if they made the playoffs and had nothing more to work towards, sitting your players may make sense... I hope the Packers didn't make a blunder sitting their key starters for the entire Lions game... we've seen that bite other teams in the past. 2 weeks off is a long time in the NFL...Good Luck!Ken

Big Tom
Quit caring January 17th, 1999. The idiocy of this franchise just became too much for me to waste any more time on it. I hope they move so I don't have to support them financially.I feel sorry for those who are still fans.
LMITOUT
Now if they made the playoffs and had nothing more to work towards, sitting your players may make sense... Really? How is it any different? The items you mentioned, especially 1 thru 4, still apply.

Musky Buck
It was a nice snow free season to get things done and lets not put too much into the running back position. The best teams barely have a guy in the backfield. Spread out defenses and throw throw throw. I ripped up my tickets to the vikes this year so I'm apparently losing interest, we're back to the defensive backs of old Ramos McDonald, Wasswa Serwanga, Kenny Wright, Keith Thibodeaux, and that WR turned corner guy. Shaky shaky purple.
LABS4ME
1st - off I said "MAY"... 2nd - I ddon't agree with sitting players unless injured...3rd - As far as playoff teams, they are maximizing their earning potential each and every playoff game they play... they get paid increasing amounts each playoff round they make... most would not look at what incentive they may be losing in their contract vs. what they will make during the playoffs... plus they are shooting for the Super Bowl which I bet most players would rather win than earn an addl. 10% more on a contract... also many of those players have probably maximized their worth being on a playoff team in regards to future contracts... they will recieve most likely a large contract just being a member of that team and can show case those skill in week 18, 19, 20 etc. if you aren't a playoff team, you have the 16 game regular season.I do think the Packers should have had all key starters play at least a quarter, maybe even a half. My thought was start the game with your second string and th second half with the 1st string... I remember a few years back, the Colt's sitting all their key guys the last week and going out on their 1st palyoff game. As I said two weeks is a long time in the NFL to sit out.and you can't preserve players for future duty just by sitting them... They are exposed to the same risk every day they step on the field... so you might as well play them and hope for the best. I realize sitting them 100% will give you zero injuries, but also zero productivity and zero return on your dollar... Good Luck!Ken
Juneau4
For what it costs to go to a game, I don't want to watch second string ball players.
LMITOUT
and you can't preserve players for future duty just by sitting them...Ken I don't think anybody is using that rationale as a reason why they should be benched. I never have. However,Just like these teams that have their playoff seeding wrapped up early, why risk the chance of an injury (see Peterson) in a meaningless game when the season is effectively over? In the Vikings case it wasn't a meaningless game in same sense due to the fact that they should have been angling for a better draft pick by losing which again goes back to sitting, or at the very least, limiting their playing time substantially. I've also have never said that the players should lay down and give up if the postseason isn't a reality, either. This is squarely on the front office and coaching staff. What good does a win against Washington do? Nothing. Momentum into next season? That is coach speak for 'I hope I have a job on Monday' and nothing else.
