Walking Dead

A few nice surprises in this episode, not one of which was Beth dying. I was expecting a big shootout at the end, but the fact it was avoided was interesting, maybe even a little disappointing.

My DVR ended right at the part Where Morgan found something on the floor of the church. I'm assuming it was the map to Washington, DC? Did he find anything else?

Opening scene was pretty cool. I'm glad they just got rid of him right away, instead of trying to make his escape a major part of the story. I was a little disappointed in Rick for wasting a bullet on him though. I thought for sure he was going to let the walkers eat him alive.

I think that part did a great job of summing up where Rick is at... In season one, no way does he even hit the guy with the car, let alone kill him...

He has transitioned into someone much colder, but there is another step into that darkness he can take. Once he does, I think in that scenario he would have saved the bullet and let the walkers feast on him. He is slipping, but he has a peg or two to go...

For the finale, it sure was a yawner for much of it, but it ended with a bang. This show has always straddled the line between action flick and zombie soap opera, and sometimes it doesn't know when to be which... Wanted more of an action finale last night (like the first episode this season) and less of the soap opera, and it felt a bit forced in terms of the soap opera parts. All in all, still enjoyed it. Looking forward to February.

Kind of a pull all together episode with action but very little substance. The end with exchange/Beth death seemed ok but predictable. Left a lot of room for 2nd half... hope it goes well.

Rick is getting darker and darker, but needs to be, to lead IMO. I think he and Abe now are both gonna be dark and the enforcers of the "don't mess with us group".

That would be a great direction to take this show. Not sure how the comics play out, but I hope it goes the way you suggest.

Right JB, it was the map that Abe had given Rick when they started their trip to DC, said something that "the new world is going to need Rick Grimes."

From the posts here, the Beth death, wasn't a shocker, I kept waiting for when was it going to happen. I was expecting dying in a crossfire or something, but I thought it was put together nicely, the whole slo-mo with Dawn saying I didn't mean to, or whatever it was and Daryl taking her down. Followed by the two groups lowering their weapons.

I had a LOL moment when Abe just drove that firetruck in front of the door of the church, only thing missing was him leaving a note saying dead inside.....though now that I type that, where did those walkers go from then until Morgan arrived at the church? Or did I miss something of him taking them all out??

The other thing I didn't get is why the priest didn't just crawl back into the church?

i'm with you guys on Rick, I thought he would have saved a bullet too, maybe a cops honor kind of thing behind it, I don't know.

Did anyone see that TWD posted on their Facebook page a picture of Daryl carrying Beth with a message saying "RIP Beth"?

Normally that would have been OK but they posted it at 9pm CST and the west coast viewers hadn't seen the episode yet...but many did see the FB post and were, lets just say, very PO'd.

LOL!

According to something else I read, the Morgan scenes are several months into the future.....

From the AMC web site.

"Months after Rick's escape from Terminus, a masked stranger marches down the railroad tracks. He stops to see the Terminus sign Rick modified, and hangs his head. He removes his mask. It's Morgan."

The whole Morgan timeline is fuzzy to me... is it months? weeks? days after? Kind of hard to figure. I hope they bring Morgan back in regularly as he is a great actor IMO, he was a primary in another end of world show that I loved "Jericho".

Abe drove the firetruck to the hospital in Atlanta were the two groups reunited. The church could empty at that point.

Morgan could have arrived at the church any time after the fire truck left.

I am still curious about the signs carved into the trees. What do they mean and who is doing it? Rick for Morgan? Morgan seems to be following the signs right to Rick.

One other thing that bothered me about the mid-season finale.

Rick has been on the 'kill'em all' track. I found it hard to believe that they didn't unload on everyone in the hallway after taking out Dawn. They could have cleared everyone in uniform to liberate the place and take revenge.

Seemed like a odd change of behavior.

I can't understand why she did it. Did she think stabbing Dawn in the shoulder with scissors was gonna kill her? Or was she making herself a martyr, knowing that Dawn would kill her, her group would kill Dawn & the rest of the hospital would be free? Not to mention, why didn't Rick consider staying there? Great security, supplies, people that aren't cannibals, etc etc. Overall, I hate to say it cuz this has been my favorite show ever on tv, but this season has seemed very off compared to other seasons. I can't put my finger on why that is though.

This season is different than the others. This season they are on the move with multiple villains. The previous season's, other than season 1, they stayed in one place and focused on one main villain.

Following that logic, I can see why the writers need them to keep moving on, and not clearing the hospital and setting up their own community.

After x amount of years, I would say it's safe to say the latin kings and the old folks are long gone! Anyway, it's never been Rick's style to stay in a better location. When Woodbury was abandoned, they brought the population back to the prison, which was absolutely stupid! Woodbury had everything! Anyone else wondering how the hospital is getting it's power? I know they said resources are limited, but never really said how they're getting the power. In all honesty, I'm starting to watch this show based on habit, as opposed to being a fan of it. Starting to "jump the shark".

I'm assume it's running off solar or a generator, which brings up another beef with the show. My single biggest gripe is they haven't had any problems with expired fuel. Find a car that's been sitting for x years (does anyone know the timeframe of the show?) & it starts immediately.

My feelings exactly. I give AMC the benefit of the doubt as it has put out some phenomenal shows as of late, and the numbers don't lie: plenty of people watch this series. While I understand that it has a huge following in both print and on TV, I am wondering if it may have been better served in a different format. Maybe along the lines of a 10-12 episode miniseries like Fargo or True Detective. Honestly, you could cut out well over 70% of the episodes and still have a great show!
