the best aerial photos I have ever seen.

My maps of the Cloquet area are not as clear as yours, but still the best I have seen. I built a 26 30 building in 06 and it doesn't show it.

Some areas appear to be very old, some spots you can find far newer photos on Google Earth. Others have amazing detail from this spring, luck of the draw I guess.

Another advantage of the Bing photos is that you can "rotate" them to get different views of the same area. Check out the two photos below. They are of the same house but looking at it from two different directions, north and south. You can rotate the direction of view by using the "Rotate" buttons, as seen in the red circles.

Same house here, but looking at it from a different direction.

I was looking at google and the maps were from mid to late summer for my area, and really good quality. If you zoomed in close on the road, in most areas it turned to real time digital photos, where you can turn and look around on all sides. The actual photos were from last summer, where as the satellite images were from this summer.

The pics of my house are old. There is a tree in my front yard in the pics that has been gone for almost 2 years.

The entire summer of 2009 and 2010 I had a boat in my driveway it is not in these pics.

There are trees in the neighbors yard that have not been there for 5 years.

Wow, I wish I would have seen this before Deer hunting this year! I actually zoomed in on a swamp with a Deer trail running through it that I had seen a large buck in last weekend. I will be checking out the area on this page before going there again! cool

mine looks better on google earth than the MN site. I like the street view also on google. drag the little guy from the right side to your street and you can see your front door. lol no help for the woods tho. I guess google hired people to drive all over the US with a camera on top of the car to get this fottage. pretty neat. Now I gotta go check Bung. :>) Thanks for the info.

Guys,

The images you're seeing on that BWSR site are likely FSA (Farm Service Agency) photos if they're leaf on or part of the State's spring aerial imagery program if they're leaf off. For the state spring photos, the middle of the state will be flown in 2013 and NW MN in 2015. The south is in progress right now. You can check out the flight schedules on the mngeo site under 'aerial photos'

The "birds eye" photos are actually taken by a company called Pictometry and are oblique images. Oblique images are only available for counties that have paid Pictometry to fly their county. Once a county has several flights done then Pictometry will sell older versions to Bing to display as their "Birds Eye" images. The most current Pictometry flight will not show up on Bing. The best place to find high resolution aerials is the city or county. If they don't have imagery available then the next best is probably the State.
