Underwater Photos

I recently purchased an underwater digital camera to take some pics while snorkel fishing. Got to spend a week with it on vacation playing with some different backgrounds and species. By far, the coolest pics ended up being in the lilypads, here are few of my favorites, I will post the report and fish pics from the trip tomorrow as well as a few short videos i got from snorkel fishing:

Bobb-o....very cool!! What kind of camera took those pix??

Nice stuff Bobb-O...

Not sure what kind of camera he is running but I have had very good luck with my Olympus 850SW (shockproof/waterproof) They were around 3bills but keep comming down. Looks like the newer version is called a Tough-6000 and is around 200$.

Besides the underwater stuff I am really happy with the Olympus. Great point and shoot with tons of easy setting to take better picts in many situations...

Heres a few I have taken...

Those pics are great, where were u snorkeling? where was the tout & salmon?

Both those were fish I took picts of as I released them. The first one was a lake run brown. You can see my wader boot in the backround as my buddy took the pict. The rainbow I held by the tail and took a pict. grin

The above picture is the below fish being released by my father... cool

Those videos make for a great visual of just how empty it can be underneath lily pads in a lake. I never thought of just how much room is under those pads when I'm fishing a frog and could be trying a worm or jig instead. Pretty neat!

Bobbo: Were you in the water taking the pics or holding the camera in the water from your boat? If you were in the water how long did it take for these fish to get back in the area and nosy? Great videos....

I was in the water with snorkeling gear on. The sunfish come in almost immediately, while crappies will only come and investigate if you hold still for awhile. Bass and northerns sorta just freeze and try and hide from you. I will try and get some more video the next time i am up north.

Aaron - try a 1/8 ounce black blue jig with a white trailer. I use one on 20 lb Power Pro with a med/hvy action spinning rod. It works wonders. You'll get at least the same amount of blow ups in the pads but your hooking rate will dramatically increase. You can swim it through the more open pads too. A bullet head jig is required though. The white trailer helps both you and the bass keep track of it.

BTW, keep the pics coming! I love underwater shots. cool

Thanks for the tip. I actually don't really have an issue with hook-up ratio on frogs (probably 80% of higher), but I just never slow down to think about the fish that might be looking up and saying "I'm hungry, but not for frog today". Lots of territory there that I just never cover by other means. Its given me a new perspective for sure.
