WAY Pumped...

Deitz Dittrich

Recommended Posts

As many of you know, I am a bit addicted to the drop shot. I'm cool with that, I can admit it even.. I probably fish it a little too much.. but darn it.. IT WORKS for me. Anyway, I have been in search of the perfect drop shot rod. I have the 7'2" M XFast Cumara, which works very nicely. But lately I have wanted more backbone and be able to use slightly heavier line. So I went to the 7' M Fast Crucial Baitcaster Drop Shot rod. To be honest, I love this rod, but maybe not perfect. I missed the added 2 in of lenght, which was actually more as the reel seat is further back on the Cumara.. so tip length was even more.

Today I own in my opinion, the PERFECT drop shot rod for me. It says, Custom Built for Deitz Dittrich by Thorne Brothers. 7'6" M XFast Baitcaster. No fore grip, micro guides... Black/Red threads to match the boat. SOOOOOOOO light.. Lonnie did a fantastic job building this thing.. Need to go mount a reel on it and sting it up, gotta test it out in the morning.

Thanks Thorne Brothers.. You guys rock!

That is a nice looking stick Deitz. Is that a predator bass blank? Gotta be one of the lightest rods out there.

I used a 9'-6" Predator muskie stick with titanium guides (Mojo) with a Curado 300EJ mounted on it. It was so light yet had so much power. Good lord.

So this might seem like a dumb question, but if you met me...

IS there a reason besides personal preference that you have s bait-caster for drop shot? Could you explain the reason behind this. I feel like I learned about the drop shot from reading this board and use it often while fishing. Thanks!

Hiya -

If that's made from the same blank Lonnie showed me a couple days ago, that's going to be one sweet combo. Superduty's right on too - would make a great grub rod with a long cast spinning reel and 6# mono.

Might be one of those rods in my future.

Cheers,

RK

Looks pretty nice...I would have spiral wrapped the guides tho, but that's just me. I built myself a spinning rod this spring on a Castaway popping blank that has the same length and action as this one. It's an awesome drop shot rod for sure as well as a light jig worm rod.

I do have 2 spinning drop shot rods.. but I like to use a baitcaster at times because I can fish heavier florocabon. 10lb Floro on a spinning reel just does not behave nicely.

RK-yes same blank

polar- yes thats the blank.
