As a few of you already know, I have been fighting a work related wrist injury for over a year. Went to get a second opinion today and the new doc is recommending more surgery. That means no bass fishing until it heals. Can't even schedule surgery until July! mad Hopefully I can recover some already paid for entry fees...

Sorry to hear that super duty and it just started getting good too laugh lol . I had sort of the same problem but it happened during waterfowl season was put in a full arm cast though made it out a few times but to be honest it wasnt worth it just did more damage... Did you do something to your tendons?

It's a form of tendonitis basically. Pretty painful stuff I have found out. Doc said I can drag a lindy rig around or bobber fish. Didn't want me doing a lot of casting and cranking. I guess I will be the guy walleye fishing in a bassboat... cool

Hey SuperDuty, Not sure if the Doc asked you to try using this. Velcro wrap around the fore arm and and elastic band on the wrist? Ive had numurous issues with my wrists from my trade and I know the pain. Chiro told me to try it and Ill be darned it worked great. I noticed Al Linder wearing the same deal on several of his shows.

Your may be beyond that I dont know But it prevented me from having carpul tunnel surgery.

Hiya -

Sorry man, that really sucks. I lost most of a fishing season to a rotator cuff injury years ago. Not fishing is more painful than the injury. Just be sure to do your PT religiously so you're 100% when you get back in action.

As far as fishing - you'd be blown away by how many bass you can catch with a Senko under a slip bobber. My kid does it all the time, and he's absolutely throttled me a few times. Where there's a will, there's a way...

Hope you recover quickly.

Sorry to hear about that, that is a low blow for sure. It may be a great opportunity to find new techniques that don't require the power fishing approach however... Could always drag a carolina rig around or drift with a jigworm etc. I have had lots of fish caught by others just dragging stuff behind the boat while I was up front casting away... Keep your head up and hopefully your recovery is speedy!

Have you consulted a chiropractor? If you need a good one let me know. If it were me I would try anything to avoid surgery.

That's a great idea, wacky rigged, couple feet off the bottom???

RK,

Good tip about the bobber and senko. When I take my 6 year old daughter fishing, we have a special pink bobber and we use a pink senko. She loves the colors and it actually catches quite a few fish. I think sometimes it works better than a senko that sinks to the bottom!

Superduty,

I lost some presentation options during a couple fishing seasons with tendinitis. One year, I could use baitcasters only while one arm healed and the other was spinning rods only while the other healed.

Now, I have plantar fascitis in one foot that makes standing in a boat uncomfortable. But, I have never been out totally. So, I can imagine your frustration. Can you postpone the surgery until later in the year or is it that painful? Of course, you would just be tearing it up more in the meantime.

Ray,

It is work related so I have to get it taken care of right away. The pain is bearable while fishing (depending on the technique), but unbearable while on the job. I have a very physical job. The more I use it, the more painful it gets. I won't have any problem watching a bobber, but I certainly couldn't throw jerkbaits for smallies all day long. I might use the downtime as an opportunity to get to know my favorite lakes with side imaging. I have all day to idle around and watch the depthfinder!

At risk of sounding like a nagging Mrs. Superduty wife type.....I'm still going to do it.

Follow all orders to a "T" and obey all instructions and obey all commands. Sounds like a boxing match official giving orders to the fighters, but it's true.

One back surgery led to three ultimately for me, and the better part of 4 seasons being compromised in regards to fishing style and approach due to not following all PT exercises and such. I did stupid stuff like fishing the bass opener after an op on May 7th. Dumb.....

Play it smart Bud, and do as I say, not as I do (did). Good luck to you...

As someone who used to work with Superduty, I can vouch for it being a very physically demanding job.

The job sucks, plain and simple. But the money is very good. With a lot of OT, working 50 to 55 hours a week, it is possible to make 100k per year.

Also knowing Superduty, he is very upset about this, he is not usually one to broadcast his personal life on the internet.
