Nate McVey
Please tell me that is not true about the public schools? Why wouldn't it be? MN closes schools for a couple inches of snow........WI closes schools for Super Bowl wins............. what would you rather have? Kids still will have to make up the lost time, but at least in WI they're celebrating a Super Bowl victory!!!!!!
harvey lee
Packers. My team since my LaCrosse birth in 1961. It's good to be the champions again. A big congrats to all the teams who fought hard and long, but came up short. These things are decided by the narrowest of margins. I go fishing for an evening and before I left I knew that if the Steelers made a few mistakes and the Packers survived, You would be running at the mouth Steve. harvey lee
I said the winner of the coin-flip would win. Guess I should have stayed with my first prediction. C'mon Dan, if the Steelers would have won, you would be their biggest fan.
gr82fish
Yep, gotta give the Packers credit...injuries to overcome throughout the season (and during the SB), their front office and coaching staff continually select talented players that are based on well-grounded personal discipline and ethics(similar to Scott Pioli and KC) and not just skill, they are the 2nd youngest team in the league...with the nucleus they have in place right now they are going to be under the radar at a minimum as SB contenders for a few years, similar to NE, Pitt, CH, NYJ, Atlanta, KC, etc., barring a strike and/or injuries. No better time to jump on their bandwagon and enjoy the ride.

Coach Dog
What a great win for a great team! That team really stepped up once again after after two of top players on the team went down (Woodson and Driver). GO PACK!

Welcoming them home? It's not like they are coming back from fighting a war or something.Well, whatever, I don't want to hijack this thread. Congrats to the team. jjjohnson
Yup closing schools in Green Bay is crazy. The poeple in that po-dunk town need all the education they can get. I will say that when the 87' twins won the world series we got off of school(St. Paul). I cant remember if we got off for 91'. Back on track:non-congrats to the pack
Cooter
Oh so SWEET!! What a nerve wrecker of a game! Still hasn't sunk in yet - excessive cheese and beer will do that to you!
bloc004
The people in that "PO-Dunk" town own a World Championship NFL Franchise.....Way to go PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bucketmouth64
Entertaining game. I didn't care who won the game. Steelers almost made the comeback, but turnovers hurt. Pack perserveered with the injuries during the game, and that's do to the backups stepping up and coaching. I thought Pack were going to lose it during the third quarter. Pack was the most dangerous team going into the playoffs in my opinion and I thought they had a shot at it all...and they won it. Way to go, but I hope the purple beat you silly next season whenever that'll be.
JP Z
Whose that CHICK next to Rodgers? SHE looks familiar with that long flowing hair.....Congrats Pack, that is all you will get from me.
nonteepical
i thought the game was kind of on the dull side myself especially at the end, steelers didn't show much urgency i didn't think. at one point i went out to to get something to drink and started cleaning up the kitchen, and after about 10 minutes it was "oh yeah i'm missing the game". PierBridge
Talk about a well deserved No-Fluke Super Bowl Run......Well Done Chees-Heads!!! "cliff clavin trivia" The Pack never trailed by more than 7 points in any game this season. And, unfortunately you can pretty much give the Pack one of the next 2 Super Bowls IMO also! Good thing you got scared off of the avatar Bet this year Shiner...
Steve Foss
Congrats to the team, they played well and deserved the title, but closing schools is a joke.I'm told they'll be making up the half day.But things are done differently in Green Bay. It's a small city, and all those Packers and their families are well known around town. They shop at the same stores as Joe the Plumber, gas up at the same pumps and so forth. Because it's such a small city, there's a much more direct connection between the players and the residents than with any other pro football team. It's the reason the Packers are unique among pro football franchises.I like the idea of letting school out so the kids can get in on a celebration that means so much to Green Bay. Building a sense of joy and community within our young people is a lesson that can easily be learned outside school, and often should be. Just how I look at it. greebs
Whose that CHICK next to Rodgers? SHE looks familiar with that long flowing hair.....Congrats Pack, that is all you will get from me. I'll bet "she" and "Erin" would both make quite a few people happy around here if they wore purple jerseys.

Thought about that last night............we'll have to do it next year Quote: Next they'll be closing schools for the WWE title bout. I imagine the school district realized a lot of kids wouldn't be showing up anyway.....for that matter, probably a lot of teachers too! pikedreams
A little history,I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I have lived in the metro now for over thirty years. As a child I watched Bart Starr and Ray Nichski and they were my heroes. As a kid I didn't want to be just a football player, I wanted to be a Packer. Just like many of you had your Viking heroes of the 60's and 70's. Green Bay Wisconsin is the ultimate "David versus Golioth". On some days there are more people at the Mall of America than there are in Green Bay Wisconsin. It is by far the smallest NFL city in america. Make fun of us as you wish, cheese, beer and all. What you don't understand is that Packer fans see the Lombardi trophy as the creamated ashes of the man himself. What if it was called the Bud Grant trophy? Think about it. Would you want it to go somewhere else?I'm now a 50 year old man. Sundays game brought tears to my eyes. I only hope that someday my Viking backing friends can experience the same level of joy as I did on Sunday.Lombardi is back home where he belongs. Go Pack! gr82fish
To add to Mr. Foss' original quote, the Packers aren't just mingling in the community with just the citizens of Green Bay but many of the owners/shareholders of the Packers, which the Packers are reminded of constantly by the coaching staff and those same owners/shareholders, who have a direct connection to the way their team is run and how they play...and they let those players know it and hear it when they see them in the community. How does that saying go, "It takes a village to raise a...(football team)", or something to that effect. Congrats again.
