Where the deer go?????

Now that we had a good frost the deer will go eat certain plants that taste better after frost. My food plots always get hit because the rape plants change when they are froze I guess. Big leafy plants and berries crystallize and they love them.

I had the complete oppisite, saw more deer lastnight then I have since last year, 13+ and they were all heading to the acorns. Had 3 deer hang up right after dark below me that made for an interesting exit out of the woods.

Its been pretty streaky down here. Took a drive two weeks ago through the country on a road where I frequently see deer. Saturday night, we probably saw over 50 deer total including a very nice 10 pt buck. We went out the next night and did exactly the same drive at exactly the same time. We saw 3 deer, one was the nice 10 pointer again.

Last week I went out hunting Thursday and saw more deer than I could count in the fields, they just kept coming out of the woods, then I sat Friday with the intention of shooting one of them, and I only saw 5 deer. I've been trying to find the correlation but haven't been able to put my finger on it.

I saw pretty good deer movement Saturday night, some does and a basket 8. Sunday was dead. I think sometimes the deer can react to the pressure this time of year and use different food sources based on wind direction. Plenty of other reason they might be showing up one night and not the other but its one theory.
