lindbergs pt?

actually, no it wasnt.. which I also found hard to believe.. but there has been something like 12 tournaments over the last month out there.. With both Centers being so low, Green has really taken the brunt of the tournaments in the area.

Biggest 5 bag I've ever seen was 24.6 lbs on a small 210 acre southern Mn lake. Brother and I got 3rd with 18.2 lbs that day. I also saw a 22.3 lb bag come out of a west metro lake near Annandale on a day when partner and I got completely skunked. Seems to me the chances of a heavy 5 fish bag would be better if one were fishing specific deep rock and or rock and weed structure. Those fish would be congregated in that area. Yeah you could still catch big pigs shallow, no doubt, but they'd be spread out and therefore would require you to move quick, cover water, and get a bit lucky that some other shallow water fisherman hasn't either caught the fish or scared them off. I wish my league would do 5 fish instead of 3. My best 3 bass bag was 13.9 lbs and we let about 7 18 inch fish go as they couldn't top the other three in the well. I figure I'd have topped 20 lbs easy that day if we had a 5 bass bag.

last thursday we had a league night out on Green and TimmyD won with 18+lbs and 2nd was 17+lbs, but there was 6lber weighted in.

i can only think of 2 tournaments that were close to 26lbs.

Fishers of Men-MN West

Rush Lake

9/30/06

1 Zimmerman and Sandquist 5 24.67

Fishers of Men-OPEN

Lake Waconia

10/08/06

1 DEAN CAPRA and Brad Luetner 5 25.90

My personal best in a tourney is 22.64. We would have had over 24 pounds if my partner hadn't dropped our 3rd 5 pounder. I know what it weighed because I had caught the fish the week before pre-fishing. Our 2 largest fish in the well during the tourney were both 5.75 and we didn't win big fish. Actually, we barely won the tourney, as 2nd place that day had 21.96 with a 6.36 kicker!

This is a little off the mark but not too long after the Weds nighters on Tonka started I was at the weigh in waiting to see if I have big fish (lil over 5#) when a limit was brought in with the smallest fish being 5 3/4 and the big fish around 7 1/2 with 2 6 lbers to fill out the then 4 fish limit. It was over 25 lbs for 4, and I am thinking they culled a 5, but I was there and saw those 4 hawgs.

There was an 8 fish limit for 37.15lbs on Pelican last year, had a 7lb kicker, guessing their best 5 would have been in the 26lb conversation

I also remember something about a nearly 30lb bag coming from the river above Pokegama - Grand Rapids about 10 years ago

You should have seen the big fish on pelican before the internet made it popular. In non tourney fishing trips, 25 lbs was nothing to accomplish in 3 or 4 hours. I heard about that bag. I'm surprised nobody has done better actually. Unfortunately, I think the best days are gone for pelican. frown
