Are there any campgrounds with lake shore camp sites that you can shore land a boat right at your site? I tent camp and have a 14 ft Lund that I would like to bring along to a nice shoreline site and be able to just wake up and push off!!

The Chippewa national forest has a few on cutfoot sioux. Its a [PoorWordUsage] shoot if the sit is open. first come first serve. We fish the lake the last weekend of may and ive seen maybe 2 campers in 6 years.

We have had a great time at the Gunflint Pines resort. They have great tent camping sites right on Gunflint Lake where you can have a small boat tied to the trees. I know it is a drive, but the scenery is great and the fishing can be good. Just make sure you stay on the US side smile

To add on to the gunflint area a little more...there's a handful of national forest campgrounds on some good lakes...devil track, two island, and crescent lakes offer awesome smallie and walleye fishing. All 3 campgrounds have alot of sites, but are also popular. Crescent lake doesn't have a single house on it, so if you really enjoy a woodsy setting that's the lake I'd suggest.

We would always use one of the unused spots for shore lunch every opener. On a holiday weekend it will be tougher to find a empty spot but if you got there early I am sure you could find a spot.

Lots of good ones in the NE part of Minnesota. 2 I go to are Whiteface Reservoir by Eveleth, and Whitewater Lake in Hoyt Lakes. Both have plenty of spots for camping, can pull the boat right up, and the Hoyt Lakes one has excellent facilities. Closer than Voyaguers, and almost as scenic. ($22/night as well!)

There are quite a few motor lakes in the BWCA. The permit fees are pretty cheap but you also have a few more restrictions than regular state parks. However, I did it years ago on Seagull and it was great. I put in my 14' aluminum with a 5hp motor. We beached the boat each night just like a canoe and had the best of both worlds. The smallmouth fishing was outstanding and so was the weather. We even brought in extra gear that I would never take into the BWCA, like a giant screen tent, chairs, big cooler, etc.

$20.00 a night @ your state parks, at least the ones with any amenities, like water and toilets, maybe cheaper the farther you get from the cities, still cheaper than hotel motel, plus you r 1 with mother......

Scenic State Park north of Grand Rapids is a great place to camp with the boat. It is on Coon and Sandwick Lakes and has some great campsites. There is the main campground, but there is 4 sites that you can boat to and get away from the crowd if you want to. Great scenery and great fishing as well.
