Pulled a 48 1/4" muskie out of Pike Bay yesterday morning on 6 lb fluoro line. That was a rush! Successfully photo's & released the beast. I'll post photos once the guy who took them gets them to me.

My first muskie ever - not a bad way to break in, eh?

WOW! I've been chasing muskies for a few year now, and my biggest is 48 inches, and that was on an 8 foot rod with 80 pound superbraid...

Great job landing it with light line, and thank you for releasing it safely. Would love to see pictures if you can get them!

I was so happy to be able to release it safely. If was such a long fight with that light tackle - 20 minutes at least - and the fish was as tired out as me. But after the photos, I eased her in, held her for a couple seconds til she revived, then she swam a few feet, curled into an "S" and took of like a rocket. It was a great sight!

You can't use just a plain treble hook which they consider using three hooks and the rules don't allow that. But you can use treble hooks on lures (which a lure is classified as a single hook) and you can use bait on lures. That's why most tip-up rigs have spinners on them; that makes them a "lure."

Nice fish!! You might as well quit now while you are ahead in the muskie game. Can't imagine trying to fit that pig up an 8" hole!

I don't think it's illegal to bait a treble hook. A quickstrike rig is basically a way to use bait with treble hooks and it isn't illegal.

oh yeah, thats what the rule is. I forgot when I posted that, the rule is that you cant use bait, on JUST a treble hook, you must attach something to the treble hook in addition to the bait.... just checkin'... again, dude, beautiful fish.
