Favre interview

I didn't get that he dislikes the Vikes, really. Just Bradshaw being the usual overstated Bradshaw. Mountains out of molehills and all that. I've never had a great time watching one of his interviews. Seems like it's always at least as much about him as it is the interviewee.

I liked watching him play a lot better than I do listening to him talk. I was a sort of sneaky Steelers fan back in the 70s, the days of Franco Harris, Jack Ham and Mean Joe Greene. winkwink

I kinda took that he was insinuating, how could you even think about playing for a team like the Vikings, saying how the uniform looks terrible, ect.. Although there was no mention of leaving the packers to play for the Jets, as that was ok.

It was just like he was trying to lead Favre into saying something bad about the Packers and their fans. Come on, Favre is way to smart to do that on TV or anywhere in the media, if in fact, he did have a revenge factor on his mind.

That's because it's not that big a story when a longtime Packer franchise player goes to New York. Much bigger deal when that Packer ends up playing for the Pack's bitter rivals. Much bigger.

Problem is, the media's been all over that ever since Favre signed with the purple. Not only was Bradshaw a PITA to listen to and watch, he was a month too late trying to drag comments on the issue out of Favre.

And I actually laughed out loud when he talked about them being friends, and when he went on and on about how he's only ever used the word "great" in terms of quarterbacks to describe Favre. The look on Favre's face during both those moments was priceless. Y'all like to call Favre a drama queen, but he wasn't a good enough actor that we couldn't see the effort it cost him not to roll his eyes and call "bullsnot" at one of the worst of all time former-star-player-turned-TV-commentators. gringrin

I still just love the fact that Favre is playing for MN. And Terry is right he could be the oldest MVP ever!

He could have been that last year with the Jets, half way through the season. I wish him well, but if the Vikes tank the last half like the Jets did, he'll be the MVP only in a few dark Minnesota and Wisconsin taverns where guys nurse 50 cent taps for an hour each and slur their words when jousting over useless NFL trivia. To most others he'll be a dog.

do you believe the 09 vikes are a better team than the 08 jets?

do you believe that Favre is healthier than last season at this point?

Yes and yes.

The real question is, do you think the 09 Vikings are better then the 96 Packers? grin

I say no frown

Gee, think that debate will break down along "party" lines? gringrin

I'd say no as well, but the season is only half over. The 09 Vikes could tank the final half, or they could get better and better and win the S.B., in which case it'd be a really interesting debate if folks use their heads instead of their testosterone. smilesmile

Bradshaw hates the Vikings. That was clear to me years before this interview. I don't know why but he does. It's not like we beat him in a Superbowl. He loves the Saints and Steelers. Has for years, and he is very clear about that too. He is entertaining but kind of a nimrod (that took me a few times to find a "poor word choice" free word)

if you ask me.

There are a lot of media guys out there upset at Favre only because they couldn't get a solid story on his return last year. ESPN made some especially poor choices with how they covered the Favre story last summer. Brett made them look bad so thier upset. I'm sure it will be more of the same in the summer of 2010. He'll be back for at least one more.

I would expect Bradshaw to like the Saints and Steelers... He was born in Louisiana and won Super Bowls for the Steelers.

He doesn't seem to care for Favre though. None of the announcers on Fox picked the Vikes to win the division at the beginning of the season.
