I can't for the life of me understand why we pull Duensing for Liriano???? He has got to be the worst guy we have in the pen.... you might as well let Deunsing face Matsui!!!!

Poor managing in my opinion.... I love the guy, but poor choice there.

I don't think it is too much to ask a guy to pitch 2 days in a row.... I don't love Mijares or Mayhay, but for ONE out I think they could get it done... putting Liriano in there screams to me that they are letting the Yanks have this one.... if we were up by a run, would Liariano have come in?????

Yes you can pitch them two day in a row but they will not be at their best.

If this game gets to out of hand, Gardy is not going to burn up pictures for a almost sure loss.

My guess is Gardy is a bit gun shy of Mijares as he has been poor as of late.

Save them for another day. This game is done.

It's easy to look at the pitchers in tonight's game, but when we've left 6 runners in scoring position and can't bring them in? The game should be a lot closer than 7-2 right now. I think the Twins forgot their bats on the plane.

I guess I just don't see why they didn't plan a day off between games to give the teams a rest. It's tough to play 12 innings and then start a new series the next day! Did NY play yesterday? crazy

they would have gotten 2 days off had they not waited until the last possible part of the season to start playing some good baseball.

I'm sure the boys were tired but really they didn't play all that bad. they just ran into a team that's just a little more talented than the teams they've been playing the last almost 2 months. playing not bad baseball gets you a 5 run loss against a team like this.

kind of disgusting when you read some of the posts at star tribune HSOforum. lots of comments of people stating that the division championship makes their year and even if they get swept by the yankees, they will be happy. I don't get that. do these same people go to an all you can eat buffet but not eat and instead just watch others eat a bunch of good food and then say they were satisfied and glad to just smell the food but not get the chance to eat the food

The way I look at it is the Twins are playing the best team in baseball right now. Well should be.....at least talent wise. The yankees have gotten there with money.

yankees 2009 team salary- 208 million

Twins 2009 team salary- 67 million

The starting pitchers for NY is ridiculous compared to what the Twins have. Lets be serious, the Twins have a bunch of average starting pitchers with a few above average pitchers mixed in. We don't have any dominant type pitchers. I admire the Twins work ethic and the way they play the game, but this is a David versus Goliath type of match up on paper. I will keep cheering for the Twins, but I will not be disappointed if they lose. They could definitely use Morneau, Slowey, and Crede for this series. Even Bonser, Neshek, and Perkins would help as well.

IMO- The Twins will have to score a minimum of 6 runs to win a game versus the yankees. We just don't have the type of pitchers to shut an offense like the yankees down. So, we're going to have to get some timely hitting in this next game. I'm not counting the Twins out, but their going to need a little Twins magic to get it done. You never know.

What a bunch of haters, just enjoy the fact the Twins made it to the playoffs and are the Central Division Champs. That in itself is a hell of an accomplishment considering where we were a month ago, and losing a lot of talent to injuries in that time.

Every time I’ve ever second guessed Gardie, he goes and proves me wrong (like the switch from Kubel to Gomez on Tues). He has forgotten more about baseball then all of us know…….combined laugh

I say enjoy it for what it is.

Nobody expects them to win, and it will make it that much better when they do. laugh

It was a great comeback to win the division by the Twins. Winning the world series is the main goal of every MLB team. To lose in the playoffs is disappointing cause you end up just the same as every other team that DIDNT make the post season. There are no rings for the losers.

I hope we atleast can make a few of the games close before falling to the yankees

I agree to a degree, Leech.

Not sure how you can call anyone a hater here though. It's pretty easy to see how unevenly these two teams match up. I don't think that statement is being a hater to the Twins at all. I'm a die hard Twins fan, if I wasn't I wouldn't post on this forum. I think yankee baseball today is a disgrace to the game. The fact that they have a team salary of over 3 times of what the Twins have is unfair. We just better hope we don't lose Mauer to the yankees.

Skip Bayless, on ESPN first and ten, just called the Twins "the worst team to ever make the playoffs in the history of baseball." Wow, that one hurt a little. I would like nothing more than the Twins to win the series after that statement.

But at least we get to hang up a new penant in the new stadium next year.. Central Division champs!!! That's something the Tigers, White Sux, and the rest of them can't do.

You're correct Dhanson, I hate the Yankees and everything they stand for. They are an over paid all star team, we'd need nothing short of a miracle to win 4 against these shmucks.

If I seen Skip Bayless I'd give him a good kick in the babymakers grin
