Fished extensively this weekend in the Minong area with guests:

Minong Flowage

White Fish (Bardon)

Big Sand Lake

Gilmore Lake

Caught many fish, but not a lot of walleyes. Some very respectable blue gills and crappies, and the usual mix of bass and pike that kept us busy. It was pretty hot weather, and even made a little time to do some swimming... Overall, it was a ton of fun! Beats sitting here at my computer and writing the report...blahhh. Looking forward to next weekend, and maybe a weekday or 2 of fishing this week. Maybe the boat traffic will be down..ya right..

Got out Sunday evening from about 6:00-8:00. Low boat gas (hey, it took until July 8th to go through the over-winter tank. Not bad) so stuck around cabin and burned electricity. Not good. Only one LMB (small). Got it on a Spook. Went a rousing 0-3 on the frog (Cannot get the hang but love the action). Missed two on a Spook. Dredged the weedline with a Red-Eye Shad with no results. Gonna start bringing the fly-rod out as back-up.

PP, yeah I might have to give it a try. Most of my hookups come when I'm screwing around with something (i.e. "professional overrun", trolling motor adjustment, watching ducks, etc.). Thanks for the tip.

I have come to the conclusion that NHL goalies would probably be the worst frog fisherman ever. Surfers would probably be the best.

Surfer: "Dude, was that a fish?"

Tourney Partner: "Yes, set the hook. Set the hook!!"

Surfer: "Dude, you sure about that?"

Tourney Partner: "YES, SET THE HOOK!!"

Surfer: "Allright man, if you're sure."

Tourney Partner: "SET THE FREAKING HOOK!!!"

Surfer: "Whoa Dude, six pounds of fishage. Righteous!"

Tourney Partner: ~BANG~

Fished Amnicon this last Sunday. Between the group of "righteous dudes" I was fishing with, we caught all species except a walleye. My good buddy caught his first 2 skis of his life so that was cool. Other fish were the small gillz, perch, bass, as you would expect. Sherpa had a musky to the net that was holding onto a perch. Fish let go when he saw the boat and all we got was the perch...

Hit it from 6:00pm-8:15ish last night. 2 LMB. One was actually on a frog. Waited on it and able to get it in. Of course I ended up going like 1-for-5. The non-keeper was on a Spook. Couldn't dredge anything up with the Red-Eye. Hoping to hit it hard Saturday AM. Weather Channel calling for 30% chance T'Storms 9:00pm tonight-5:00am tomorrow for the Minnesuing County Park (Couldn't get a closer forecast). If not Saturday, Sunday looks real good. Gonna look at alternative methods if I keep not catching on top

Fished 5:30am-11:00am Saturday and did real well. Around 15 LMB total with 10 measuring. Even CAUGHT three on a frog. Did go something like 3-for-8 on them though. Number of fish on the Spook and a couple on a swimbait. Sunday was a completely different story. Fished from 6:00am-10:30am. One LMB (it measured) on a spook. Tried everything short of drop-shotting and jigs. Hoping to get out this Sunday.

Hello,

New to the forum. Heading up to Lake Nebagamon for a week. Last year did not have much luck fishing. Just looking for catch and release any size smallmouths, largemouths, northern, crappie, panfish.

Are crawlers or leeches better?

Spinnerbaits, crank baits or plastics?

Any success trolling with crawler harnesses? I used to fish Upper St Croix a lot when I was younger and crawler harnesses guaranteed a mix bag and lots of action.

Any tips on what to use would be appreciated.

Thanks

Newton, welcome to HSO and to this board. Personally I don't get to Nebaggie. Have a cabin 10 miles west on Minnesuing. I would keep scanning this board, lots of guys here fish it. Personally I would check the Internet for a lake map. There is a "Sportsmen's Connection" series of books. There is one for NW WI that has a Nebaggie map. Does your electronics accept chips? You can fish pads with a frog for LMB. Maybe the lake association has some buoys out marking rock piles. Good luck and let us know how you did.

Jarrid (or any of you guys actually), what do you know about Long Lake by Sarona? Went to pick up my boat trailer from Dave's Outboard and visited one of my wife's relatives on the lake. 3500 acres. Info says both kind of bass. Ever fished it? Saw some rock and gravel off the docks. What's the rest of the lake like? Dave said they were catching bigger smallies of late. Thanks.

Newton, if you are willing to get up early, you can catch nice smallies this time of year before sunrise. I like to go out just when there is barely enough light to see, and fish on the north side of the point with the lighthouse. Cast Into shore with plastic worms tipped with beads. Work that shoreline. Once the sun peaks over the tree tops, the bite is done.

Thanks to Raider4ever and ice fishin for the tips and advice on Nebagamon. Had a good week of fishing. Was able to boat a couple of nice smallmouth bass. Also Lost one on a line snap near the boat. A few northern and largemouth also. It was a rock bass festival, with at least 50 caught and released. Some good sized pumpkinseeds and bluegills also. All smallmouths and northern were caught in deeper water trolling. Northerns on crankbaits, Smallmouths on leech rigs and crawler harnesses. Getting to know the lake better each year.

Thanks again for the tips and help everyone.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
