PierBridge
Not true ..... at the time of the Voting Favre had carried the Jets to a 9-4 record and was playing at a high level with a bunch of stiffs who won 4 games the preceding year.Popularity? I thought ever body hated Favre for him wanting to play football again? I though he ruined his entire reputation for being so selfish?Lets face it its a personal thing with you guys! Big Dave2
Besides all that, I never liked him. So, yes, I would take any of them qb's in that list, and many more before I would have a 2009 version of Brett Favre on my team. You never liked him? Why? Because he played for the packers? If he had played for the Vikings all these years he would be the best thing since sliced bread. Who cares what team a guy played his career with. The Viking probably had a chance to draft him or trade for him before he went to the packers. It's the vikings that screwed up, not Brett Favre. Big Dave2
All you have to do is take a look around the league to know if old STIFFS like Warner, Collins and that type of washed up QB can do it. A healthy Favre could crank it up for a season or 2 no problem.I rate Favre better then over half of Wands list....even injured like he was the 2nd half of last season. It's one thing to have a personal vendetta against Favre but to say a guy who just made another Pro Bowl is washed up and should retire is well ludicrous.Get Well Brett we'll see ya in purple hopefully sooner then later. I agree totally!!!!!
Scott K
Well, if I was playing Madden 97-01, Sure I would want Brett on my team, but this is 09, and not a video game! Favre is no longer the player he was. So at the point he is at right now, I would rather have those other 15+ qb's on my team. Favre is a better option then we have now, but I dont want a 1 yr drama queen qb to come in and put us a year back. Lets find us a qb, that is good and we can have around for 5+ years. I dont think Favre is the player to put us over the edge to win the big one. We need several good players, and if we didnt win this coming year, we are right back to, "what are we going to do for a quarter back"? Besides, it isnt going to happen anyway, the media would tear him apart in NY if he played the unretire bit there!
treble
Originally Posted By: double_trebleOriginally Posted By: Big Dave2I don't think there is anyway this will ever happen........but........Why on earth would anyone not want him here? Even at his age, he is still a top 10, maybe even a top 5 QB in the league. Look at the mess the Jets have now. They got rid of Chad Pennington and now a fellow division team is much more competitive because of it. If anyone in the NFC North got Favre, the packers would get 3 first round picks from the Jets, undoubtedly making them much better. Jets lost their head coach, maybe wouldn't be the worst thing for the Vikes. And by the end of the season had fellow teammates criticizing him. You don't understand why anyone wouldn't want him??I don't understand why anyone would. All we would get is a interception throwing machine, who is well past his prime, who is going to tear apart our locker room and then put us through the same drama the Packers have gone through the last, what, 3 years, and now the Jets will go through this summer.. And all at the same time, giving the Pack 3 FIRST ROUND draft picks. If I were a Packer fan, I would love to see him go to the Vikes. If the Jets felt at the time that they should or could have held on to Chad Pennington then they would have. The Vikings are in a different situation. If Favre had come to the Vikings this year they probably would have been one of the best teams in football. No one would be dumb enough to hang their hat on Brett Farve as a long term solution. You have to figure he's a one year rent-a-player. if you get more than one year it's a bonus.Tell me........what 10 QB's in the league would you rather have than Brett Favre?"Tear apart the locker room".....???????? You mean just like Randy Moss supposedly was doing here? Ask the patriots how that one worked out. You want me to find 10 QB's that I would rather have than 39 year old Brett Favre?? Okay..1. Peyton Manning2. Tom Brady3. Drew Brees4. Ben Roethlisberger5. Eli Manning6. Phillip Rivers7. Tony Romo8. Kurt Warner9. Donovan McNabb10. Chad PenningtonI could add at least another ten before I wanted Favre.
Big Dave2
I guarantee you guys would have never put Kurt Warner on that list a year ago. In my opinion, the Viking would have had a real shot at winning or at least getting to the Superbowl if Brett Favre had been here. The Vikings were and are in the perfect situation to bring in a guy like Favre. Thats the weakest position on a pretty solid team. You wouldn't be getting rid of a QB, you would just be letting him have one more year of learning under one of the best QBs of all time.Arizona was the NFC representative for god's sake! I would say that a good "old" QB did a lot for that team.

Scott K
One thing you guys keep over looking here is he is injured, and elected to not have the surgery to repair his throwing arm. Last year I think he could have gotten us further in the playoffs, I wouldnt have liked watching him as are qb, but I really didnt like watching Gus, and T-Jack as our qb either. This year, it is a complete different situation. Favre is injured, he has one more year to his old age, and he doesnt want to play. Face it, he is now officially washed up! And it will not happen! zepman
He is posturing right now and come this summer he'll again asked to be re-instated. The Jets will have no other option than to release him at that time because they don't want his 13M to go against their cap. Favre is in a pretty good situation right now and he knows it. Much different than last year. His arm will heal and soon after that he'll get that itch again. He wants to go out on HIS terms and that means sticking it to the Packers. I'll say it again, if the opportunity exists for him to play with the Vikes he'd be here in a second.
Scott K
Leaving and retiring from the Packers, then back stabbing them, and back stabbing NY, is 2 total different things. The national press would eat him up so bad he will have to stick his head so deep in the sand, you wont hear his name again until he dies! That and why do you all assume he still wants to be a Viking?
bassphish2005
we don't need him...............
zepman
Because he wanted to be a Viking last year. Remember all those phone calls between him and our offensive coordinator and Chilly? They weren't swappin recipes back then. He wouldn't really be sticking it to the Jets at all...they would just need to release him.

fishyguy
I guarantee you guys would have never put Kurt Warner on that list a year ago. That is absolutely correct but we are not doing a list based on 2 years ago we are doing a list for today. Today, I don't want Farve on a top ten list or on my team. If he comes back and has a MVP type year like Warner you can all tell me I told you so but at this point I don't want the guy who played last year and seems awfully beat up, worn down and seems to have lost that little extra something personally that made him who he was. BrianLucky13
What would vikings do with a good QB??? NOTHING!!! QB isnt even close to their problem. It all comes down to coaching. The vikings dont deserve a legend like Favre!!! Ship the team off!!
so haaad
I don't think Sanchez is a top-level quarterback. Pete Carrol didn't even think he was ready for the NFL. Getting a QB in here is only half the issue. We also need a capable wide receiver or two. I'd like to see them draft a WR with their first round pick. And also go after the Cincinnatti WR via free agency, T.J. Whos-your-mamma.
koonie
Only reason Carrol was mad was his ticket to the national championship was leaving. That whole deal was an absolute joke. Carrol basically threw a temper tantrum. Sanchez is the best qb to come out of USC since Carson Palmer. He's a little inexperienced but he has everything you want, talent wise, in a quarterback.Of course we need more than just a qb! That's why they have free agency and the draft.Housh is good but he's getting up there in age. Probably wouldn't be a long term solution. He is better than anything we have though. Also, we need a competent qb to get him the ball.Lucky13I don't care for chilly but it's still up to the players to execute the plays. Even with his system we could have been successful with an above average qb.

Not with a number 3 pick overall, they traded three picks to move up and grab someone in the second round... a wee bit different dudeIf they were smart they would look to free agency this year for a one year wonder (see Kurt Warner) and next year sell the farm to move up the ladder and take a QB in the top
