grab the net
Ball park figure, what is the most expensive combo in your boat. I was just perusing my new catalogues, BP and Cabela's. Most expensive rods - GLX and Steez mid to high $400.00's Reel - Shimano Calais $650.00Does anybody really fish with a 1k plus outfit. Great if you do, no judging going on here, just curious. My most expensive - $450.00 range G.Loomis custom built with a Shimano BC.

Fluker
Mine is similar to Cecil except mine is a Shimano Metanium MG $300ish and either a GLX MBR843 or St Croix LE, whichever retails for more.I think the other piece is in respect to what you actually paid for them. No way did I pay sticker price for either of those, or any of my higher end stuff. I think I got the Metanium new for $200 and bought the LE from a pro staffer. GLX was a wedding present. (Ya I know, AWESOME!)
Cecil
I paid less than $250 for that combo.

st.crioxfishin
Haven't got the rod yet, but I got a shimano sahara for $100 and will be getting a shimano cumara for 219.99. I'll have paid about half the price though which is nice...
bemidjibasser
Mine would be a TDX reel $200 and a custom built St. Croix Legend Tournament rod that I built myself. I got the parts to build the rod for around $130, but wouldn't sell the rod for that...

Bass Whacker
carrot stick $150 and a curado $
mozy
I just bought a Loomis Crankbait rod and when it's paired with a reel it will be my most expensive set-up, but I also never pay full price for my rods and reels. I figured it out the other day and I have paid less than half of the msrp on all my setups overall, like was said above, working at a sporting goods place has it's benefits.Anywho,Crappie rod:Loomis IMX $235Sedona $

I work in fishing retail and I can tell you that for every $100 plus rod we sell 20 under $40. Don't feel too bad for yourselves.
Nick Kuhn
A lot of these guys definitely have the more expensive equipment. Mine is only a touch over $150 (Abu 6501 on a compre muskie rod).I am looking to add a rod for the summer but I haven't found anything really that fits the need. If anyone knows where I can find a 7' to 7'6" Heavy Fast-extra fast spinning rod for the ~$50 price range I'd love to hear it. I'd really like a spinning rod that can handle some of my in between size baits (large pike and bass baits and small muskie baits).
Bigguyone
How do I view profiles as it tells me I am not allowed to - what do I need to do as I wanna email a couple people questions - such as where to get a Cumara for 1/2 price....Please email me to let me know how to view profiles at [email protected]
TurnUpTheFishing
the people who are getting good deals most likely are prostaff or work at a store that sells fishing gear. While I enjoy fishing with nice rods/reels I wouldnt be fishing with calais and high end croixs or kistlers if I didnt get a discount on them. It just so happens that with the deals I get they fall into my budget. Also, just because a rod or reel is expensive doesnt mean it necesarily better than another. I could never justify spending money on a steez rod or reel, way overpriced in my opinion. Id rather buy a couple curado and avid setups than just one steez.I looking forward to the new Mojo bass rods from St. Croix and many guys would consider those "cheap"... Sometimes one gets a skewed sense of what other fishermen use when amongst all the hardcore anglers that frequent FM.com
