Are hot spots a tradeable commodity?

Having uncovered a righteous panfish location while at the same time totally unable to succeed with the walleyes, I find myself with the following question. Is it considered bad form to seek a trade of information? Should I just keep my spot to myself and continue the as of yet fruitless search for walter? Or should I try to expand my circle of fishing friends and pursue a good walleye angler who has an interest in a killer panfish action. Furthermore, is even asking this question outside the boundaries of what is considered acceptable?

If I had access to panfish like that I wouldn't tell a soul. As soon as you start adding people, the fishing will go downhill FAST. My suggestion would be to enjoy the fishing you have now and try for walleyes when catching big pannies gets old.

BTW are you sure there are walleyes in the lake, pond, or river your fishing?

.... Crappies up to 16 inches and gills that don't look real....

I call SHENANAGAINS!!!!!!!!

If the above statement is true, that is a spot that needs to be held to the vest. No amount of walleyeage is worth giving a "honey hole" like that up. I think I would be blindfolding my fishing partners, and swearing them to an oath to go there.

You can't beat solitude. But solitude with quality fish is a true treasure.

I may be in the minority, but I find it a lot more fun and rewarding to share a quality fish experience with someone else. Solitary memories, are just that....solitary.

I understand why shenanigans would be called and pics requested. I currently have no pics as the camera on my phone is basically useless. There is also a very well known landmark that would be tough to photo around, but I'll try

I'm with Dtro....

Now given, I wouldn't be caught putting coordinates on FM, but with trusted friends and fishing partners? You bet I'd share...think of it as karma...hopefully next week that same friend would share a different honey hole with me if and when he found one.

Tough call. Find a spot like that and everyone will call you a liar until you produce evidence. Share it and you can lose those fish quickly. What if the walleye spot doesn't live up to your expectations? You have now spilled the beans and can't take that back. Personally, I have a big mouth and usually share everything I know. My cousin, on the other hand, thinks his spots are "his" even though he may be fishing a community hole before anyone has a chance to get there. Once everyone shows up, he thinks you talked and brought in the crowds. I'd rather share. Just because they know the spot doesn't mean they know how to fish it.

Tuff call, I had a little bass lake that I only took a few select friends to. As a matter of fact one work friend was so impressed with the little lake that all he did on the way out was talk about who he was going to show it off to. I quickly fixed that by turning off my headlights at every cross road on the way back out so he could not read the road signs. Made for an interesting ride back as he thought I was joking the first few times that I did it. Of all people to give up my lake my son showed a friend of his and the friend spread the word. Fishing is not nearly what is was back when I first found it but then again that was 30 years ago. I would lean to keeping it under your hat and don't tell anyone, even family !

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
