    New Range / oven --

Apologies for the dual thread --- Ice Fishing MN and HSO have me confused as to how/where to post anymore...

    New Range / Oven

The wife wants a new range in the kitchen -- we have a 30 inch gas model. The microwave is directly above it. She wants a double oven, which means we either have to renovate the entire wall and cabinets and put in a double wall oven, or buy a free standing, 48 inch double oven (side by side). We would then only have to remove one small piece of counter top to accommodate the space. If we went the latter route, part of the stove top would not be under the microwave vent -- Is there a code requirement for this as far as the vent/hood is concerned? For you contractor guys -- is there anything else I need to consider? Thank you.

    Apple iPad ??

Great info -- all that's provided is accurate and good to know. My household has two Ipads, two Ipad mini's and 3 Ipods (as well as two Iphones). In a side by side comparison -- I actually prefer the Mini over the larger Ipad -- it's easier to hold, to type on and to use in general. It's also easier to store, whether in a purse, or hide in my vehicle, etc. I don't really notice the screen size difference, unless they are side by side. As previously stated, get the most memory you can.

    Composite Decking?

This will be the 3rd year on this deck .... and I can honestly say it looks as good as the day I installed it. Here are my other thoughts --- - like I stated before -- I wish I would have went bigger. It's 14 x 24, and I wish it would be 16 x 32. We bought the leisure furntire for it, which I prefer to the table/chairs, but it takes up more room. - I would use solar lighting, like Down Deep. Nothing wrong with the low voltage quality, but the quick connects can become loose. I've had to re-wire 3 of the caps so far. Small hassle, but luckily one that I can stretch into a 2 beer project. - The only downside to composite is -- on hot summer days, this decking is HOT! I've had to put down outdoor rugs (removing them after the sun goes down)to avoid burning the feet!

    Basement wet

My parents drain tiled the basement two years ago as well -- paid to have it done -- well worth it. Water problems solved!

    TV/Satellite coax cable organizer

Home Depot has them -- I have one that fits between my studs and I rocked around it -- it's big enough to handle all you mentioned as well as a booster. And, it looks nice and clean. Look in the same aisle as the coax cable....on the bottom shelf.

After 9 years of serious ice fishing................

WELL SAID, CANOPY!!! Lately, it seems every thread on here has someone bashing someone else's post. And, the majority of the time, it's because they didn't take the time to actually stop and read that post first. Thanks Agronomist -- nice post, very informative and helpful, especially for those just starting out that may have many questions.

    buying a used snowblower?

I have a used MTD (2004) that I bought used. I have had no issues purchasing auger parts via their HSOforum, and using their online diagrams, etc. Once I was unable to tell which part I to pick (from the diagram) so I called customer service and they did a great job of assisting. I agree that a little care/caution/common sense should be used before purchasing, but I wouldn't disregard a purchase altogether -- obtaining the parts I needed was far easier than has been described. Good luck!
  10. 2007 Chevy Suburban. FYI -- the squeal I mention was only heard when light to moderate pressure was applied. If I 'got on em'....no noise. I thought the same of the pads --- I had asked here the last time which pads were recommended -- Airjer -- you liked the Thermoquiets. I had a feeling that the problem was something I must have done, but didn't know what. How rigorous of a cleaning needs to be done? Anything else to ensure that my new brakes/rotors will be squeal free?
  11. Last time I replaced my front brakes, I replaced both the pads and the rotors and used Wagner Thermoquiet pads. However, after completing the task, the brakes always had a light squeal to them -- I assumed it would go away, but never did. I tried taking them off again, looking at them, re-installing them, etc. Figured it must have been something I did wrong, or it was the parts, so I lived with it. Someone mentioned that they always washed/scrubbed the rotors before putting them on, which I hadn't heard of. It's time to replace these again --- what tips do you guys have for avoiding this when I replace them this weekend? Thanks!

    Cordless Drill

I bought the same combo last Black Friday -- in the middle of my baseent project (when the Dewalt died). It's been a great combo -- though I use the impact drill much more than the other. Absolutely works great -- and with the lights on them - they work well in dark spaces. Charger is fast (15 minutes?)...perfect for everything I've needed it for.
  13. I think my overdrive went out -- but I'm not 100% sure....RPM's at 65MPH are over 2000...which seems a bit high. Also, the tell-tale sign is -- when I push the OD button (towing), nothing happens. Could this be something else besides what I think? 108k miles on it.
