caseymcq
It sounds like after eight seasons the Chargers might let LaDainian Tomlinson go. He had his worst season this year only rushing for 1,110 yards. In eight years he has rushed for 11,760 yards (avg 1,470 yards/season) and 126 rushing TDs (avg just under 16 TDs/season). I know he had some injuries that kept him from playing this year but this just sounds nuts to me. If 1,110 is his worst season that is doing pretty good. pinkfloyd4ever
yes that is nuts, is it dumping salary or what?
snoozebutton
I think he'd look good in Green and Gold.
jigging-matt
Whe you read the article, it sounds like cost savings. Might be hitting the 30 year old wall that so many RB's seem to hit. [PoorWordUsage] of a player though.
maros91
Injuries are starting to take their toll. Plus Sproles is good. They may trade him or probably release him. Maybe the Pack can screw up this trade like they did with Randy Moss.
caseymcq
I think he'd look good in Green and Gold. Noooooo, Nooooo, Nooo, No, No... No. The guy still puts up the numbers. It sounds like it is definitely cost savings to the tune of nearly $9 million. I still had to chuckle reading the article from Fox when it said "Slowed by toe and groin injuries, Tomlinson gained a career-low 1,110 yards in 2008..." If that is a running back's career-low because he was injurred that RB is doing pretty good.
CJH
Cost savings and inujuries. He hasn't been available for the playoffs the last two years, which is when you need him the most. Looks like his starting to hit the RB wall. The average career of an NFL running back is 3 years......
Sandmannd
That sick, still one of the top ten RB in the league. That's just crazy.
jigging-matt
The article is pretty good when it talks about all of the players the Chargers GM has let go that were still productive players in the league. ie, Seau, Harrison, Brees, Edwards. They don't handle their Vetran players very well. As a Viking Fan, I really would not like to see LT in green and gold.
pinkfloyd4ever
Right, he's put in 8 solid years, minus not showing up for playoffs. Puts a wear on the body. I'm sure lots of teams will make an offer to him though
zepman
LT is a warm weather guy. Tampa sounds like a better stopping off point than GB. Once November rolls around he would be hurting in GB. Great player, can't believe they are thinking of moving or releasing him. That's just unreal!
PierBridge
Nobodys going to pay much for a wore-out banged up 30 year old running back that is way past his prime. It just doesn't make any sense.I'll be suprised if he plays 2 more years. bassNspear
this is a stupid move on there part IMO. He changes the whole entire game plan for the chargers.
Mr.Seaguar
LT will be easily replaced. Find some second rounder and pay him $500,000 and get the same production. He has been in the league 8 yrs. Thats a tremendous beating. This is a business decision, pure and simple. Sproles would not hold up as running back. Drewski
Sproles is finally emerging. He's gonna be good.
ozzie
Sproles will be a W. Dunn type of back...you need someone else to take some of the punishment......
bassNspear
Sproles is finally emerging. He's gonna be good. How long is he going to be good? This is my question that i keep asking myself. There having him do way to much the way it is, and if they are going to rely on him if they get rid of LT, there going to have there hands full, and hes not going to make it 3 seasons as there starting RB
nofishfisherman
LT has said numerous times that he will play out his contract but that will be it. He won't sign another.I think the Chargers will be stupid to let him go out right. I'll be that there will be a team willing to give atleast a draft pick for him. He had a down year for sure but he was banged up and also I'm not convinced the new system in Sand Diego fits him very well. He just wasn't used like he used to be.I think he has some prodcutive games left in him, probably not like he used to be but with the 2 back systems being all the rage right now I bet he'll find a place to play as part of a 2 back system.
