zamboni
KARE 11 just said Carl Pohlad passed away. Will this mean more money spent on the Twins, or will the kids sell the team?? Be tighter with money??
Sandmannd
Sad to hear he died, didn't really care for the guy but don't wish that on anyone. I don't know, I think they may say. Weren't they pushing for him to sell anyway?
Walleye Guy
I didn't care for the guy or his tactics. I do think its unfortunate he didn't get to see his Twins play in the new ball park.Lets hope his sons run the team as more of a hobby and not a true business venture. mr_jman
Its sad to hear it, but maybe someone will spend a little money on some players..... We can hope anyways.
blue_healer_guy
Thats good stuff PierBridge, the guy didn't have a clue the last 10 years on putting a team on the field to win the world series. He was happy to be competitive to put between 2-3 million fans through the gates to make money. Just remember 1 thing about the man, he signed off to contract the MINNESOTA TWINS. You forgot- he tried moving the Twins to NC as well. I would hardly call him the best owner in pro sports.
zamboni
Come on guys have a little respect! A smart and powerfull man passes away, lets keep this civil! I understand where you are coming from, but he shoud have spent a few more bucks on the Twins, something that has to be done nowadays. I want to relive how '87 and '91 felt again, probably the best years of my life. I really want the Vikes to win the Super Bowl, but have almost given up on that. WildCountry
If you were to go and read anything about him and the twins, the whoel NC thing was just a tactic, there was no real deal going on. He was a good guy just a different mind
Scott M
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. So I will say RIP and leave it at that.
metro fisherman
Sad to hear. But I think good could come out of this with more spending on the team. And hopefully a 3rd baseman.
blue_healer_guy
In no way did I say I'm glad the man has passed, just didn't like him as an owner. RIP
jigging-matt
For all of the bad that people remember, he did a lot more good that people forgot/don't know about. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

PEATMOSS
Sad part to me is that the fella died worth an estimated 3.6 billion dollars. I can't imagine why a guy that wealthy and that old would shake down the community to build a stadium. Why not build it with your own money and put your name on it. What a fantastic legacy to leave behind.
wingnut38
like him or not, he had one heluva ride. RIP
beer batter
Anyone read Tom Powers' article in the Pioneer Press on Pohland? Wow is all I can say. Completely true, but very untactful. Here's a link to the article:http://www.twincities.com/ci_11382217I wonder if the Simpsons will do anything with Mr Burns as a result of this. His character was modeled after Pohlad.
CrappiesNCats
For all of the bad that people remember, he did a lot more good that people forgot/don't know about. Thoughts and prayers are with his family. like volunteering his team for contraction? like making his billions by foreclosing on farmers during the great depression?may he RIP, but lets not make him out to be the hero he wasn't
jigging-matt
Did you ever read about all the money he gave to charities and all of the other things he did? Not making him a hero, No part of my post said he was a hero. Just didn't feel that at announcement of a persons death people need to find something to rip him for. Please don't use my quote if you are going to try to say something I didn't. I just felt that you can always find the good in somebody also. Jarrod32
He did indeed give a great deal to charity. And he did have two championship rings...
kr8r.tom
giving to charities always makes the rich look good, but the reality is they do it for the tax breaks/incentives. this is why professional athletes have their foundations and such, it's a place to put money lowering your personal tax liability and doing good for the community. if they were such humanitarians they would be volunteering for the red cross in foreign countries, not being a professional athlete. morefishplease
My thoughts go out to his family at such a hard time. Being a Twins fan I wish the organiztaion would have spent more money on the team. Powerful business men like himself are very strict at how they operate their businesses. I'm sure he was really a good man. I hate to see someone get bashed as they passed away, I'm sure it's hard lossing a father or close friend which he was to many.
