jbell1981
For those that care, this is From kfan: Quote: Update (3:40 p.m.) The NFL has granted one final 24-hour extension for the Vikings to sell their final 3,100 seats for Sunday's playoff game. The Vikings now have until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to reach a sellout, or the game will not be shown on local T.V. Getting closer, sold 4900 today. I think it will be on TV. fbluvr27
Just stated on Kare 11 that there were $80-$160 seats left.Mr. Jman, either way I will be listening to it on the radio. Itll just be a lot easier to sneak off to go ice fishing if they arent on tv.FIRE CHILI
fbluvr27
Or maybe I could get four of the $160 seats for my family, pay $25 for parking and another $40 for concessions, $20 for gas and take my family to the game. Id consider it they brought in Shanahan. Otherwise, $725 to take my family to the game? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!

LMITOUT
The weather that is coming tomorrow won't help sell any tickets either.
pinkfloyd4ever
The guys on ESPN 1st & Ten show made it sound that regardless of ticket sales both here and AZ, they didn't think the NFL would do blackout and that both owners have some deal with the NFL to buy up remaining, just pushing for the public to buy more. The Donk
The weather that is coming tomorrow won't help sell any tickets either. Ha! Like that would make a difference
LMITOUT
When people see the weather that is coming tomorrow evening and throughout Sunday, they will probably say the heck with paying $500 when I can stay in my comfy house and watch it on TV while the wind blows 20mph and it doesn't get over 10 degrees air temp. Travel will be a mess to boot.
Sandmannd
That's a lot for tickets. I wanted to go but could find no one who wanted to go with.
pinkfloyd4ever
Hard to argue for the public not buying tix- they/we are not buying a lot of other things either, people, me included aren't doing that discretionary spending, etc, never know what tomorrow will bring. zepman
I don't blame others for not buying the tickets either. What happened to the season ticket holders though? I heard that some 55% of season ticket holders have passed on the game...that's unbelievable. Apparently, that's why most of the ticks left are the higher end ones. I can see it comming already--no stadium for the vikes/can't sell out a playoff game...only time before Ziggy starts talking about moving the team out West. Mudcutter
how many would show up if the game was outdoors??Take the Philly support and add that to the mix.Vikes fan base are wimps. Too old, not enough passion, and get made fun of on national tv.an outdoor stadium might get rid of the weak and lame.

snoozebutton
In defense of Minnesotans, not all of them just stay home. They did sell out the Hannah Montana concert last year.
jjohnson5150
The Vikes need to get off their high horse on this deal. They are rubbing me wrong on this deal. How can they expect / plead for the public to buy these over priced tix with the current economy? I live & die with this team, but when millionair players are pleading for the avg Joe to buy tix by digging into their Christmas bonus (who gets one anymore?), there is a problem. Then you have another player saying how disappointed he was in the fan base for not selling out the dome. When was the last time these players were worried about money & if they are so worried about this, why don't they each buy 1000 tix and give them to the boys & girls club or the 150 people that were just laid off from the company I work for. Then team ownership comes out with the new justification for $600 million in public funding for a stadium. Don't they get it?
Grainbelter
I agree, the players and the team need to step up here.......
fishyguy
I am sure this won't be a popular opinion with many of you but if you don't buy tickets you don't get to gripe. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. I don't mean to sound cold and I am not a rich man but I don't ever expect anything more than I provide for myself. I also don't worry about my neighbor or someone else at work who can afford the bigger house, better car, and fancy vacations. I wish I had those things but no one owes it to me. I watch the game every week and go to one or two a year, usually on free tickets from friends but will spend a few bucks when I can. It would be nice if tickets were $5 instead of $30 but that doesn't mean some rich athlete, corporation or TV station has to bail out our rear ends to appease us. I love the example that shows it takes $725 to take a family of 4 to the game. You could also do it this way. Eat at home, buy 4 $30 tickets, take the light rail to the stadiums front door and have it drop you off 30 yards from your car after the game. Family of 4 just did the game for $130. That same family didn't walk through the snow, cold or ice to get to the stadium and still will have seen a great game for $130. I realize that is still a pretty good chunk of money but if you have to have lower level seats, park next to the stadium, have some beers, and eat a few overpriced dogs and nachos, it will get expensive. james_walleye
I think a big part of why this game is struggling to sell out is that people are sitting back knowing Fox or another corporation will bail everyone out like usual. I'd go, i've been on ticketmaster about 6 times but i just can't do it. Im trying to get some extra change together to finally get a new bow for next fall. The wife wants to get a camper. We upgraded to a bigger house. I've done 2 games this year already, i can't do it again unfortunately....
fishyguy
In defense of Minnesotans, not all of them just stay home. They did sell out the Hannah Montana concert last year. Although I missed that big event , that does illustrate part of the issue. The Twin Cities has 2.8 million people and if you take the attendance of just the 4 major sports teams, Gopher football, basketball and hockey, and say 40 major concerts each year, you have attendance of almost 6 million. Tack on a few million more for the Lynx, other U of M sports, Monster Trucks, WWE events, local colleges, etc... there are a lot of places for our money to go. No excuses, this game should have been a tough ticket but it is not the only show in town, people in this town support their teams but things do get spread a little thin at times. Especially when money gets tight.
