Edgar isn't going anywhere...he'll be back on the northwestern next season. I hope the cornelia marie has a different captain next year, that guy just seems too boring and lacking of a personality. And I wish I worked on the wizard! $57,000 for 2 months of work?!?!?! shocked

Is there any word as to what happened to Jake's dad? Was he ever found...dead or alive (no pun intended)?

After poking around the internet, it does not appear that he has been found. Very strange.

Yeah, thanks Discovery for all the foolery around Edgar. Man, what will Sig do this year? Shots of the empty chair...Sig looking depressed out on deck...And then Edgar walks out ready to kick off the season.

Couple of new captains that really had their undies in a bunch over seemingly nothing. Steve and Jake were about an hour late and the Corneilia Marie cap'n almost fired the engineer. Can't remember the young kids name, the one with the scraggly beard, fires a guy over leaving a messy galley after a beer night tied up to shore. Wasn't really clear if it was completely his fault, or if he was just the fall guy.

Liked to see all those blues come up in the pots way up north. Ballsy being way up there since you're pretty much on your own if you run into trouble. Good episode.

Oh yeah, he was the sacrificial lamb no doubt.

I'm looking forward to a good season but I'm getting to the point I can predict what's going to happen before they show it with their editing habits. No matter, if I'm not able to see it real time, I'll be at least watching a recording of every show.

He was the only one I saw. What boat is he on this season? I didn't get a chance to watch the season premier last night.

I don't see Russel on any of the crew lists for boats on D.C. this year. Doesn't mean he isn't on another boat in the fleet though.

I think Russel was the only one. They would have made a big deal out anybody/everybody from D/C if they were there. I always remember Russel as the self proclaimed "Free Agent of Crab Fishing" ever since he bounced from the Time Bandit to the Wizard to the docks.

Always did seem like he would be a nice guy though. smile

I didn't watch the one hour lead in but I was convinced that Edgar wasnt coming back and that was the new face on the NW, then it hit me that there was no matt. Cap Keith always starts out slow and each year the whole "emptied out his savings" is getting old.

Hmm, interesting. And they didn't show Wild Bill and the Kodiak at all in the premier. They'll be on according to the promos but nuthin yet. We wondered why.

And yeah, the I'm broke Keith anthem. Is he the only crabber not hooked on drugs/alcohol that can't manage his money? If it costs so dang much to operate the biggest boat in the fleet that he can't make financial headway, maybe he should skipper a smaller boat. confused

      got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out

      Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!

      we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
