Jari Razskazoff
Last year, with the advise of one of the guys up at Joe's Sporting Goods, I purchased some Baffin Technology Boots. How they differ from gortex, or thinsulate, is Baffin Tech holds in the heat that your body produces. Thinsulate is dependant on movement to keep warm, while Baffin will keep your feet warm while sitting still. I found this to be a better option when ice fishing, because I generally just sit there. To my suprise, the guy from Joe's was right. Baffin Tech is the way to go! My feet stayed warm, even after sitting still for hours on the coldest day of last year. I would suggest thinsulate for hunting, or run and gun fishing, or anything that you stay moving, but stick with Baffin for ice fishing. Gordie
I have lacrosse ice fishing boots they are tall boots(just under the knee) that are rubber with a heavy liner as good as the ice kings with built in insulation in the sole, water proof, and designed for ice fishing by ice fisherman they work great when drilling lots of holes and double as a great late season deer hunting boot. wanger29
Irish Setter Snow Trackers, one of my better investments!
NAMASafetyDirector
Bought my Lacross Ice Kings in the fall of 1996 and they are still going and by far still the best boots I have ever worn as far as warmth is concerned. I have never had cold feet in them yet. From sitting in the bow stand in late season to standing out on the ice fishing, I won't wear anything else! boatfixer
I've had Sorel Cheiftans for 10+ years and like them. Last year for Christmas, I got Mrs. boatfixer a pair of Steiger Mukluks and she says they are the warmest thing she has ever had on her feet (her feet get cold grouse hunting). BlueFin
I am definitely going looking into Mukluks, thank you boatfixer.
Lisa Almquist
I wear Ice Kings or Rocky Blizzard Stalkers. Also a good point to make is the type of socks you wear. I wear heavy duty Smartwools inside my boots so they wick the sweat away from your feet.
TheIceFishingKid
Last year I bought Cabela's Snowy Range 1200 Boots. These are by far the best boot I have had for the money. I sat out on the ice a few times last year in below 0 weather and my feet didnt even start to get cold. I got them in Jan. for 30% off. Northlander
Mukluks arent very good in slushy conditions and the soles will break down faster. I looked at them but I just dont think they would stand up to everything I do ice fishing.
Duffman
My wife loves her muks, they are the only footwear that has kept her feet warm. But I have to agree with Northlander, they just aren't cut out for icefishing in wet conditions.
BartmanMN
Arctic Armor suit and Mukluks, that would be a sight for sore eyes. You better stick with the Bear skin and whale blubber if you are pimpin the Mukluks.I had a friend that tried to snowboard in those things in Colorado. Funniest thing I saw the entire trip. 52luge
I thought the same thing about Steiger Muclucs, that they wouldn't hold up, but that that was 12 years ago. I've worn them on the trap line, deer hunting and ice fishing and they are warm. Very warm. But the best thing about them is they are light. I always tell everyone that it's like wearing bedroom slippers. You definatly want to Sno-Seal them for wet conditions like ice fishing. If it's really wet and slushy, you'll do better with Isulated Burly boots or something but if it's that warm you won't need Mucs anyway. These are the only foot wear that kept my wifes feet warm and we tried everything.Bill
