Iceman12
NOw that it seems to be getting cold enough to make some ice I thought it would be fun to hear about favorite lures and how you use them to get ready to start fishing. I'm fairly new to ice fishing but I can't look forward to get out and try the Angel Eye's this year. Had them last year but never really knew how to use them. willowcat
Take the bottom trebel off a cicada, then run a 2" droper in its place, add a minnow head, lift quick-drop slow.
Guest
First off would be a Salmo Chubby Darter, fun to use and they produce well. In current then I opt for the Nils Master Jigging Shad or a blade bait like a Zip. Second is a good flash spoon tipped with a whole fathead minnow hooked through the eyes. The larger Angel Eye spoon is a hot pick for this. In heaver current an Ivan's Slammer is a very good bet.Third, Probably "Drop and drag jigging" big perch off deep flats? Put a short stinger on a Angel Eye Jr and tip it with a pinched off minnow. (pinch the minnow off behind the air bladder so the head and body will float up slightly) Jig it up 10' or so off the bottom and let it shoot out and fall to the bottom on a slack line. Then S...L...O...W...L...Y drag it back to center while feeling for a pick-up by a bottom hugger sumo perch. D & D is a hoot! ------------------BACKWATER GUIDING701-281-2300[email protected]><,sUMo,>
Northlander
Hey Eddy I do a lot of that lift, drop and drag on the St.Louis River. Eyes love it.
Poutmaster
Line #1: Buckshot RattlerLine #2: A red Neon Lite with a fat head and an Ice Buster bobber trimmed down just right. Many times the Buckshot seems to attract them and bring them in, but if they are not feeling aggresive, they'll slowly take line #2.It's a dealy combo, just ask the fish I eat.------------------Love them 'Pout! Guest
KEWL! Try the Gamakatsu G-Sting once. I think you will like them for those sneaky followers. They are awesome droppers for spoons and tail trailers/droppers for Chubby Darters. ------------------BACKWATER GUIDING701-281-2300[email protected]><,sUMo,>
IcePro
My Grandfather taught me this technique. 1.) Drill a hole2.) Open a can of peas3.) Put peas around the hole4.) When a fish comes up to take a pea, hit him over the head. He also told me this is where yellow snow comes from.
bim
My personal favorites are the Marmish line of lures. Couple these with the marmish rod and strike indicator, and you have finnesse fishing at it's finest. I would say it's a must try ! I also really like the big eye jig and minnow combo for walleye, but if your after all spieces, go for the above.

Lunker
I experiment with all sorts of different techniques and lures and baits, but when it comes down to it, you can't beat small jigs and minnows/minnow heads for eyes and such or tiny jigs with euros and waxies for pans and perch. Although I do find that Jig color can have a big impact on bites. Had my best luck last year for pans and perch with pink and this multi colored blue green jig I used all winter for eyes.[Note from Rick: Speaking of high quality, super sharp small jigs...CLICK HERE to check out the TackleCity.com line of jigs...SWEEEEET!!!Save a Bundle TOO!!!][This message has been edited by Rick (edited 11-25-2003).]

Steve Foss
For minnow baits it's been the jigging Rapala in various sizes and the Nils Master Jigger, both shad and regualr profile. Lift drop, lift drop, lift drop, pause, jiggle, jiggle, pause, lift, pause, set the hook. For jigging spoons it's been the Northland Buckshot Rattle Spoon in some version of glow color. That glow and rattle pulls them in from afar, and the weight gets it down there quick. When I've got fish already around, the Angel Eye is a good one. It has the slowest, widest flutter on the drop of any spoon I've used.------------------"Worry less, fish more."Steve Foss[email protected]

pikemania
Some of my favorites are the buckshot rattle spoon and jigs great for calling fish in and my lure I have the most confidence in is a sweedish pimple they are hard to beat. I am really going to give the chubby darter a good chance this year to be another favorite
