I just got home from the lake with my 3y/o daughter. It was her 2nd time out on the ice. The first time she caught some small sunnies, but this time she did a little better. She caught her first crappie, 15". It will be going on the wall for her. Cell phone cameras really suck, but I couldnt find the other.

Yes it is great watching the little ones catch fish. My little boy is 18 months old, and I had him out a couple weeks ago and he caught his first fish, a 7.5" crappie. He was so happy catching that fish, he wouldn't let it go for an hour. He carried it around and showed everybody. He had drool running down his chin...smiling so much. It is a moment a dad will never forget.

Anyfish - your daughter caught a monster crappie. Congrats.

Congrats Anyfish... Awsome fish for you're little fishing partner. I have yet to get that lucky myself. I too bring my 3 year old boy out and he just gets a kick out of ice fishing. The whole fish coming out of the hole thing... driving out,,, etc. We were out last night and brought home a dozen 9-10 inch crappies that he caught. I'd set the hook and watch hime crank-em in. Good times.... Makes it all worth while.

Dude, take a loan out. She'll appreciate it someday ;\) Nice crappie. BC

My oldest daughter will be going for her first time this fall. She has already told me to start saving my money because she is certain to get a trophy. Luckily, I've got 9 years to go with the little one. My 6 y/o got a bluegill on the wall this summer, at 10.75". I never get fish like that. I must be a better teacher than fisher.

My folks have a sunnie i caught when i was kid. My brother caught one almost the exact same size on that same trip. i actually still remember catching it, and recall mwhen my Brother caught his.

I was about 7 and he 5 at the time. that was like 37 years ago.

Greta memories, i bet she will always remember too.
