Are you looking at the AT tire?

Previous discussions have brought up three popular choices in an AT tire in no particular order:

BG Goodrich AT

Yokohama Geolander

Bridgestone Dueler Revos

I went with the Revo's on my 4-Runner, too new to give any good feedback other than they made my wallet much lighter blush.gif

I have a 98 F-150 that I've used with a couple tires mentioned in this thread. 2 sets ago I had Yoko Geolander A/T. They were a pretty nice tire. Not too spendy, and good enough for the limited off-road they saw. They also were pleasant on the highways. Only bummer is they wore extremely quick. I only got about 32k out of them and they are rated for 40k.

I am currently running Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT's and they are definately a superior tire to the Geolander. They are better off-road, slightly noisier highway, and have lasted over 55k against a 50k rating. They will need to be replaced within the next 1500-2000 miles and more than likely I am going to get another set.

Are you sticking with 10 ply tires? They are a different beast than those for a half ton and I don't think same brands that are good in the regular tire are necessarily good in the ten ply.

I have Bridgestone Rugged Trail TA on my Dodge 2500 and they have approx 55,000 miles shocked.gif Tires are 1/2 worn. They are not an aggressive thread by any mean but they are great in rain, quiet, and.... they last forever.

BTW I never rotate my tires and I had alignment when I bought the truck (75,000 miles ago this spring).

I also have another CTD 2500 with Toyo Open Road AT and they seem pretty good, definitely not as good as the BFG.

I had Michelin on another truck and they were the noisiest tire I ever had..... and I used to be a Michelin enthusiast.

I don't have any experience with the tires you are asking about, but I am on my 2nd set of the BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO 10 ply tires. I got about 60000 miles off my first set before they started cupping. I now have about 8,000 on my 2nd set, and I am still happy with them. I know, this is not exactly what you were asking for, but just another opinion to think about.-Later!

If you have a duramax in it you need to run 10 plys because of weight of the motor. They also will last much longer for you on a HD truck they will work great. I have had great luck with BF goodrich AT and have gotten 50,000 out of the ones I have had on my truck. Now I has some Coopers that are awesome for traction but they haven't worn for jack. I think I will look to Toyo Open country on my next set next year. All though the BFs are great their price is getting pretty crazy. I have heard good things of the geolanders though on GM heavy duties.

I don't drive a 3/4 ton but someone is going to seriously have to pay me some money to put something other than BFG All-Terrain T/A KOs on my 1/2 ton. 100,000 miles on my previous set. No flats until the day I put my new ones on.

might not be comparable, but my father used the BF All terrain T/A on his S-10 and got 120K on first set, and somewhere arround 100K on the second set. He put cheaper tires on now because he thought it wasn't worth it if he didn't know if the truck would last out another set. I think he has around 280K on it and it is only a 98.

I am running a pair of BFG AT's (315/70/17) on my 03' Dodge 2500 Diesel. I have put 22k on them while they have been on this truck, and had put 30k on them on my 03' Dodge 1500 before I traded it in for the diesel annd had them swap the tires to the new truck. I still have a lot of tread left and expect to get at least another 10-20k out of them, probably more!! I will know for sure by next fall!

I ordered a set of tires last year over the internet from California, here in 4 days. If you can find someone to balance and mount them you can save some $$$$. It was free shipping over a certain amount. They might or might not have what you are looking for. Might get edited but it was at onlinetires.com

    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
