This make a nice bloody with stuff you can find in most stores.

dash of onion powder

dash of garlic powder

dash of ground pepper

splash of Tabasco

splash of Worcestershire

dash of celery salt

teaspoon of olive juice

teaspoon of horseradish

mix and add some olives stuffed with jalapeños.

This recipe is for one tall glass and add your poison.:)

Here is one that I have not tried but was in the Duluth paper today.

1/2 cup lemon juice

1 Tbl of prepared horseradish

1 Tea of Worcestershire sauce

1 Tea of cayenne pepper

1 tea of celery seed or salt

1 tea of ground pepper

1 tea onion powder

1 tea of garlic powder

1 46.5 ounce can of V-8 Juice or tomato juice

Combine all ingredients in a suitable container and shake or stir.

I dont know what Mix the Peppercorn goes with? I'll have to ask, next time the MIL calls. I do know my personal fave.. I have tried to make my own and cant come close to this mix...

Look up "Finest Call Loaded Bloody Mary Mix" I serve it to friends and they cant get enough of it either.

Jimalm ~ This one sounds awesome! Makes me thirsty reading it...

Although homemade is always best IMO, if you're looking for another brand name mix, Jero and Major Peters are tasty ones. I like to 'customize' mine and add garlic(which is great on everything), worchester, celery salt, onion powder, pepper and a pickle and celery stick. Lastly, don't forget to add celery salt to the rim of the glass-a lime/lemon works best for this, and one can squeeze a few extra drops into the mix if you like.

OK.. I have now looked in a few different places for Zing Zangs and have come up dry... Anybody know who carries it in MN? On their web site, they dont list a MN distrib.

I bought some in Rochester last weekend. Don't remember the name of the store but I will try to find out.

Nytelytr,

In your first post you said you can't keep the stuff on the shelves when referring to Zing Zang's, if you have a store it sounds like there are quite a few mail orders waiting to happen here on the site, unless you just meant your shelfs at home. I think I hear the sound of opportunity knocking here, LOL !

Have to agree with Zing Zang's............but, I did and infusion once with garlic cloves, black pepper, lemon, lime, pearl onion, jalapenos, pickles, horseradish root and green and red peppers (for color in the jar). I let it soak for 2 weeks in a cool, dark closet.....then I pulled out the veggies and replaced with 1/2 the amount of fresh (just for presentation). I would then just rim a glass with celery salt, add the vodka, V8, olive, pickle, lemon, pepper jack cheese and a slim jim..........had people come from far and wide for one of those. That was probably one of the best infusions I had that year.

The Zing Zang must be something new to the area.

I hadn't heard of it before and figured surely that I'd have to get some in the city down the road a piece.

However, the distibutor must have made a swing down Hwy 12 recently because it's on the shelf here in town and also is some of the even smaller towns along the way.

Grabbed a bottle and agree it's pretty good stuff.

Can't give you a recipe but I can tell you Dehls in lacross has to the best bloddy mary I have ever had. Also using pepper vodka will make any bloody mary mix test better. The only company I know of that makes pepper vodka is absloute. Kinda pricy but well worth it for Bloodys.

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
