Out doors Baseball

Two months of the season are definitely not going to be good for MN baseball outdoors. But after my very first trip to the Dome for game 1 and 2, you really do need a new stadium. I'm sure the dome probably has memories for you guys, but the improvement potential of a new park is huge. Even a small park like Cincy GABP offers advantages you won't believe if you haven't been to a modern one.

I'm too young but my great uncle talks about how great the "Old Met" stadium was. They would dress warm and head out to the game. I personally think it's going to be a lot of fun going to an outdoor stadium. So what if you have to get your winter gear on for few games, it will be a game you will not forget laugh.gif. Were minnesotan's and can handle a little chilly weather!

The bad part of not having a roof is for the people who have to travel from out of state. Many come to the Twins games for a weekend series and for a shopping trip. Have to keep mom happy too! I can remember going to the Met back in the mid 60's for a Yankee series and it rained both days. Pretty sad for a young kid who only had the opportunity to go to a couple of games a year. I really enjoyed the outdoor baseball much more than the dome though.

I think that if teams in Detroit, Chicago, New York and Milwaukee can handle a little cold weather and potential rain outs I think we can as well.

every team has people coming from long distances to catch the game. Yeah its too bad if the game gets called off becuase of rain but its all part of the game. Every team deals with it.

You describe yesterday at the Tiger/Toronto game in a nutshell. Barely thirty degrees, wind, and snow. Tigers had a 10-2 lead, and squeeked out a 10-9 win after some wind caused misplays of a couple fly balls. Why not open in Southern cities? But, the other side of the coin, Monday, for opening day, the weather was sixty degrees and sunny. Go figure. World Series games were played in similar conditions last year.

I think outside baseball games in MN this time of the year is too early. This kind of weather is football weather. Baseball is supposed to be warm and enjoyable. No shivering and sniffling. A rectractable roof would be awesome but here comes the money thing again. I wouldn't mind building another dome like thing again but a outdoor stadium, how many fans would you get on crappy days?

I go to several games each year, and the games I goto are when its cold and crappy outside, and I cant go fishing. I would like a roofed stadium, with heat! Call me a sissy, but when Im scrunched into a seat and cant move around much, I get cold! Now on the other hand , watching a game when its 100 degrees and sunny isnt any fun either! Then I want air! I live an hour or so away, it would be a waist of my time to drive there pay for parking and tix on a questionable rainy day! Put a retractable roof on it! It would be awsome sitting in the sun on a 60-70 degree day watching baseball, but most of you live in mn, how often do we get them days! I would forsee myself going to less games in the new stadium!

At the risk of being called a Wuss smile.gif ...........

You really need to get the big picture. Lets take two months of season and peel off 10,000 fans per game when the weather is crappy. Let's see, who should we not sign to make up for our loss of revenue? Think that can't happen? Go 70-92 one year and see what happens to attendance when it is cold out.

I just drove 900 miles since Sunday (did I mention gas was $2.55 gallon) to watch a couple Twins games so please don't call me undedicated. One of the games would likely have been called off.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
