DOAducks
So last night I watched the wild game and tied up 30 lindy rigs for the opener and a trip to basswood. My wife thinks I have a problem because opener is a 1 1/2 months away and my trip to basswood isn't until the middle of july I just told her every good hunting and fishing trip is about preperation, kinda like a good shopping outting. thats how I relate hunting and fishing to her. I am like a little kid the night before christmas except it is not the night before.
Random guy
I spent the last two days rigging the boat, changing hooks and re-spooling reels. It is not a problem, it's a blessing.
Northlander
Your all ok in my book. I have tied up about 100 crawler harnesses and painted up some bottom bouncers. Got 4 boxes of jigs all color coordinated and sized up and spooled up my new bottom bouncer rods/reels. Now I need some nice weather to get the boat washed/waxed. Sad part is by the 2nd day of the season it will al look like it did last week.
eyepatrol
Each year before we go to Rainy Lake (canada side) I look over my lake maps of the areas we fish to try and find new spots for walleyes. Okay, no big deal right? Well, yes, unless you've had the maps for 15 years, you've fished the area for 25 years, you're looking at the maps in January 3-4 nights a week and you don't even take your trip until the middle of July! Don't worry....you don't have a problem. And if you think you do, you've got a huge support group right here!
CrappieAttitude
OK guys how many of you have sat at your counsel and turned the steering wheel back and forth watching your motor like you were 10 years old again? The only difference now is the engine sounds you make from your mouth are a little deeper pitched than when you were a kid. CA
eyepatrol
Ummm....okay, I've done it. Except now days I do it with my kids to make them laugh. DENIAL!
Meat-Run
CA,My wife was giving me c r a p this morning because I was making casting sound effects like I was pitching a pig/jig under the kitchen table, baby hi-chair, and couch. She was hoping that between ice out and walleye season she would get a fishing break from me fishing. Sorry honey, I'm heading to the garage and cleaning out all my tackle boxes, see you in a couple days I said to her!!!!!mr
DOAducks
Glad to see that I am not the only one out there with this problem... I mean blessing. My wife also questioned me last year if I was more excited to go on our honeymoon to maui for 10 days or to go to canada for a week of waterfowl hunting. I smiled and said the honeymoon, but if your fingers are crossed is it still a lie. Maybe that rule doesn't apply at age
Scott K
I will sit in my boat in the driveway and drink a beer and cast my poles out of the boat in to the lawn, I guess Im just making sure the reel still works right? Well thats what I tell the wife!

Well thats what I tell the wife! I have never done this for 4 weekends straight. When I bought my boat last year it came home on March 10th... So I spent a lot of time sitting in the boat "Lawn Fishing."I actually leave in a couple of hours to go spend the weekend in my Soon to be Mother-in-Law's workshop, (Where she lets me store it) Where I'm going to install new electronics rod holders and other little mods... The Grebe
Yes, yes you do. You should seek counseling at Gander, or Cabelas! If your obvious condition has you staying close to home, check into the nearest FleetFarm, WalMart, BassPro, or any number of other institutions that deal with people that are afflicted with your condition...Vados, Capras, etc.I myself am not ashamed to admit that I treated myself to some therapy this morning at one of the above named establishments, in the form of an UglyStick I've had my eye on!I don't belive that your condition can be cured? Controlled, maybe? Cured? Never!
colonel42
This post is funny!!! Here I thought I was the only one. My wife asked me what I had planned for the weekend and I told her getting the boat ready. The look I got was unbelievable. HMMMM Let see 12 pack of cool ones, couple tackle boxes to clean up, new line I can put on. My weekend is packed. Also to top it off I just went and bought a new Mathews bow today so in my free time I might just have to start getting ready for bowhunting. Guys wonder why they are always in the dog house. I just made my dog house bigger and call it my garage. Weekend here I come.

CA I get the whole gammit going: Motor winding up and then the trim and jack plate coming up then the high pitch whine that only a over revved outboard can make. I will go as far to drop the throttle and set it down before punching it into corner.I even slam and shake back and forth like I am cutting waves. I have a mouse trap in the far corner of the "war room" I was trying to pitch onto it last night with a jig. I was even wondering if I could jig a racoon out of the bird feeder the other night, I could have used other methods to remove the problem from the feeder but for some reason I was trying to figure out how to land a racoon.Man I hope this ice melts soon. gunflint
Do you have a problem? That depends. Were they single, double, or triple hook rigs? If you could only tie 30 single hook rigs during the course of a hockey game I think that you need more practice. I would suggest repeating this exercise several times over the next few weeks. You should be able to do a minimum of 35 triple hook rigs over the course of a hockey game. Unless of course you're getting spousal interference or disrupted by kids in which case 30 would be acceptable.
Bassboy1645
Oh If all of you guys have a problem Then I definetly have a problem...Im waiting for my next paycheck for fresh gas, oil, and spark plugs for the outboard but otherwise Ive been ready to go and now that the Kawishi river is open i might have to take a spin. Im already shooting bow and checking stands and scouting too....its pathetic. I need a room with padded walls
Team Otter
The problem is that it's raining.
Fish&Fowl
You're definitely not alone on that one. Preparation is necessary, but early preparation is needed to help keep us sane. I'm even worse when it comes to hunting, especially waterfowl. Just make sure you have something to do between ice-out and opener so you don't go loco! Mike Walerak
Yes you do have a problem. The only cure is a fishing trip of any kind.
Scott K
The only problem I have is it wont quit raining, my boat is ready and so am I! I may sneak out in the rain yet this weekend.
freddie
Seriously though.....I got some duct tape, and outlined exactly where my new boat will fit in the garage. Put my rods and tackle boxes where i figured they'd be most handy, took out the kitchen chairs and had wifey and the dogs come out for a boat "ride". My brother called the next day to see if I was ok. Wifey called him and said she thought I was losing it. I told him what I did. He's coming up next weekend to do some garage jigging.True storyFreddie in WI
CrappieAttitude
Quote: The problem is that it's raining. This is the best time to spend countless hours in the Garage. With the lakes not open yet and a weekend full of rain, the outdoor spring honey do list can be posponed a few days. How many of you got your garage organized this weekend? I think I have a never ending battle of re-arranging the garage. Too many hobbies for each Minnesota Season.
Meat-Run
"Do I have a problem"??? this weekend as I gathered all my ice fishing stuff and put it away for the summer the wife asked me to look at the Menards ad from this weekend. There she pointed out garage styles and sizes for making more room for all my toys so I don't have to depend on buddies to store my sleds and other stuff. I about fell over. Maybe she was trying to do two things. One REALLY make more room for my junk OR try and get me out of the house more? Either way it looks like I might be building another play room for me and my stuff this summer. Yippyyyy!!!!! mr
CrappieAttitude
Does this mean you wont need me to store your sleds this summer? CA
