Seen this in the Bass forum and thought it would be interesting to hear from the Musky guys. So what do you guys got going on, or plan on experimenting with next season? Me I just plan on hitting some new water more, i fish alot of the same water since I have to drive halfway across the state to get into some ski's grin.gif Defienitly want to try some jigging, never really tried it. Then I want to night fish a little more. With more and more guys chasing these fish I think that might be the ticket, and of course hook into the 50" PIG cool.gif

I just want to catch more fish this year, last year was horrible, I caught 2 muskies and that included a week on LOTW confused.gifmad.giffrown.gifcrazy.gif

I need a good numbers lake to scratch the itch.

I ended up with 19 muskies, with 3 over 51 inches last year. This year my goal is 40 muskies with one over 55 inches. It might be a high goal but I bought a boat last fall and Ill be able to fish 5 times as much this year!!!

Good luck to everyone this coming year!!!

Holy Heck that is a lofty goal, awesome though.. You caught 19 muskies without even owning a boat? Now that you have one watch out Esox!

I had a bad year also last year, I think 4 or 5 with nothing big....This year one over 52 would make me giddy.

For the first year in a long time, I really have no fishing goals this summer. I've got a 2 year old and a baby on the way, plus I just found out I got drawn for an elk hunt in the fall. I hope to fish as much as I can and spend some good time with my little boy on the dock chasing perch and sunnies. Not quite as lofty a goal as many, but I'm looking forward to it.

My goal for musky fishing this season is to target muskies at least once every other week. Last summer was my first musky year and I really only targeted muskies a handful of times. Part of my problem was laziness, I am comfortable fishing for other species on the local lakes. The other part of the problem is I have a small boat (15 footer) and between the fact that I don't trust a lot of the yahoos out on Minnetonka or Waconia with those gigantic yachts and the fact that even when they just drive by nicely I still spend most of my time just trying not to rock out of the boat (I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, I know that not all the people on those two large lakes are bad, but it only takes one run-in with a drunk (Contact Us Please) on a large boat to put an end to one's fishing career).

I think I'll spend some time testing out the less publicized (possibly lower quality) smaller bodies of water around the metro with musky populations.

I caught 4 last year, including my personal biggest. This year I would like to break that elusive 5-0 length, and I have a good shot with the trips that I have planned. As far as quantity goal, 10 would be great, but I am happy just to get out there with my friends and try for them.

Forget my friends!

We always use my boat, my gear and I set them up with my lures while I run the trolling motor and they always catch more fish... grin.gif Funny how that works

This year my goal is to out fish everyone that comes into my boat. lol wink.gif

Honestly I put my goal at 30 Skis for me and 50 skis in my boat. My biggest goal is to learn leech lake so I can keep improving.

My goals...

1. Get better every time out

2. Catch more muskies than last year (3)

3. Get one 50" or more

4. Everyone in my boat has fun and is safe.

These are in no particular order.

That is so true!!! grin.gif

In reality I had the most fun last year in the boat fishing with different people, what a great way to learn. I pick up something from everyone else, and they say the same in return. Fun to see what peole throw and all the what/where/why/when/how thoughts behind their logic.

That's my goal, to hit the lakes with different people and learn more and more, getting the net wet is of course a goal too!

Personal goal: 40 inch metro tiger, I want to see how close to home I can get one! One mile from home is possible!

One more, see if I can get Mark Stanley's "pet" muskie to go!

One goal I'd like to hit is a 3 fish day, I had a 2 fish day twice last year. Also to cut the amount of money that I spend on lures in half. I'm pretty sure I can achieve the first goal.... wink.gif

I'd just like to catch one. I've already spent a ridiculous amount of money, it would be nice to justify it in some way. I have so far spent one day on Shamineau, two on Alex, at least five on Tonka, one on Waconia, one on Independence. The last two got one for the people I brought with me. Makes it harder that I live in Portland, OR. I just caught a bunch of bonefish and barracuda in the Bahamas, so I know I'm not completely inept :P

I'm sharpening my hooks for that biggun that blew up the same topraider in the same spot on two consecutive nights on Tonka that I somehow missed both times. That fish will not make a fool of me a third time.

Any opinions on when I should make my first trip to try again?
