Wow, I missed this last year. Might have to schedule this one on. I sujjest Waconia, planty of parking, lots of bass, great shallow fishing too for those of us who can't quite grasp the deep water thing.

Well, we might be a year or two from taking the show on the road. I know not everyone lives in the metro, but fact is the bulk of us live around here. So, for now, we will be semi-metro.

I thought about the pay in advance last year. But, I prefer pay the day of. This is more of an informal event than it is a real tournament. Let's have some fun, be good sports, throw a couple bucks down, and grab for some bragging rights.

My vote is for Waconia. Everyone would have a better than average chance of putting a 4+ pounder in the boat and there is a ton of parking. Plus at the ramp you can put two boats down at once. There is a lot of shade and plenty of room.

I read some guys would like to fish Twin/Sylvia but I vote no on that lake. It is full of 12 inchers and personally I would rather poke myself in the eye with a red hot poker than fish that lake or even worse than that, I would rather go Walleye fishing. Just my two cents though.

I hope to make it this year, last year I had a tourney.

Cmon Ray raise the skirt and come up north! LOL

Lots of great lakes in the brainerd area. Cheap lodging at the motel by S&W bait like 35 bucks for a double!

Good to see you the other night. It was a late one! I crashed at 3;00 and the rest of the boys saw day light!

swampbuck,

Good to see you as well. Reid figured that one wasn't going to end anytime on Saturday.

Well, my preference actually would be to get out of the metro. I just don't want to coordinate that this year. Next year, who knows.

Since you're still looking for suggestions......

What about the bronzebacks on the St Croix? Close enough to be considered metro, and miles of fishable water. Boat traffic is an issue, but where isn't it?

Maybe the Croix could be a "side" get together. It would be fun to see the skills applied to chasing browns, not just greens!

Ray,

I ran tournaments for several years here on the south end of town. Waconia is an excellent lake, and if fished earlier in the year, it is guaranteed that everyone will be able to weigh big bags. It is very easy to acquire permission as well. My last tournament was summer of 05, and they didn't even require a permit. There is also a large beach area (at the ramp, not the public beach) for holding the weigh in, and 25 boats can easily be beached there. The parking and ramp have already been mentioned. I couldn't attend the one last year due to work, and hopefully this year's event will be on a day that I can work out.

Just my thoughts...

God bless,

Tom W

Thanks, Tom. Good to see you around here again as well. Stop in more often.

I've fished Waconia several times, I like it, I like the access. I would say it's a leading candidate. I like that St. Croix idea as well.

I'll be glad to give it another shot next year and donate my money again. Lots of good choices. Waconia will produce some big bags. St. Croix for a different fishery than most of us fish. How about Green (Spicer)? Although finding a partner who knows that lake might be tough for me. wink.gif

Ok,here is my take [complete newbee to FM]I have tourney fished over the years, and there is nothing better than the Alex area.Too far..maybe,but metro lakes get so much (Contact Us Please) pressure it makes it (Contact Us Please) tough to enjoy ones self on a weekend.so...........any where quiet [sorta] is my call for this deal.I live right next door to Forest lk., and love Chisago. But you guy's are the pros......what ever is the lake,I will be there.
