CNY Tim
We caught quite a few perch Tank, Dark Cloud and Billy. You had to pick through to get some keepers but it was pretty fishy all day except for a 30min. stretch late. Always great to fish with the southern tier boys. Slip Bob I didn't have Robb's cell so I called Shawn with the report. My computer at home is cobbed up so that's why I didn't post when I got home yesterday Frank don't know what you have planned for Thursday but Tank and Billy are coming back-up if you wanted another tune-up trip before the event this weekend. Z is coming over tonight for spikes, I should have a report from him later also.

cnypanfisher
I'm heading out to BB tommorrow, then going out in front of Constantia Saturday or Sunday. Weather looks kinda good 4 the weekend. Next week it's gonna be bitter cold, so there will be good ice everywhere. Where you going fishing this weekend Tank? Looks like most of these guys are heading to Silver for the derby. To Tim
BigJohnnyIce
Hello guys, Didn't get a chance to call last night Timmy, had to get everything dried out from the blizzard at Silver yesterday LOL!! Well, I got at the CC at first light...I was the first one there and I waited for the Wizard to show up. I get a call on my cell and it is him....I can't hear him too good or talk to him because my cell phone service sucks down there. I did hear him say that he was running late. I have to look into a new provider... Any way, I decided to do something stupid. I went off the CC by myself. Nobody else around on the ice up there. There was a minor 'path' that a few guys made the day before, so I took that out to about 1/4 of the way across. I get off the 'path' and my foot goes through the top crust, then hits water, then come to rest on some solid ice. I think to myself the the ice below the standing water must be 6" or more with all of the cold weather. So, I get my auger and drill a hole. After TWO turns, it goes through. The ice was a mere 3" (I carefully measured it with my ruler.) I didn't feel safe out there with all of the water and snow on top so I got off. Finally hooked up with the Wizard, and we didn't actually start fishing till around 9:30 or so. Got off of Traber and moved to 30 FOW. The ice there was 5-6" with about 6" of snow on top of some slush. At the time, the wind and snow wasn't too bad. Marked fish right away, and once I found what they wanted, I got 4 keepers in the first 1/2 hour. A lot of dinks. Then, at 11am or so, all hell broke loose. Winds 30+, snow squalls, complete white out conditions at times. Haliman showed up just in time for the fun....I had enough at 3pm and headed home. The walk in the Traber Road was terrible when we left....6-10" of snow with deep drifts, with slush spots below the snow. Made for a HARD pull even though I lightened up my Trap. Ended up 11 keeper perch (9.5" or better) in the 6 hours or so of fishing. Must have caught about 50 dinks. Here a a few pics before the wind and snow came.... One of the better ones... The future perch family... Measured ice thickness of off Traber in 30 FOW.

BigJohnnyIce
Thunderman and others: Unless anything suddenly comes up, I will be out there on Silver Saturday with you guys. I hope the wind blew off some of the snow near Traber. My legs are still burning!!! I wasn't down at the very south end area, but with all of the people on it, it should be packed down hopefully and easier to walk.

Bsens07
Hi guys, new to this. I just signed up today. Couple questions if anyone can help. My friend and i have been ice fishing on and off but have started ice fishing regularly. Has anyone fished Little York lake? If so any ideas where to go there, we are going to try it tomorrow morning but not sure where to go. Looking to catch anything, this year has been slow for us. We tried Dryden Lake last weekend and caught 1 perch, also 2 small eyes on Whitney Point. Looking to try Long Pond if that doesnt pan out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.PS Whitney Point Crappie Derby is officialy "Almost" annual yet again. Derby was cancelled last night. cnypanfisher
Went out in front of Constantia today, 6 inches of good black ice, real easy walking, slush is frozen. Going to try Dakins tommorrow, and see if I can buy a fish or 2. Heard they were getting perch off Williams park on south shore, but it's not he firmest report.Chamount Bay is rocking hard on the perch, my buddy got 90 lbs perch of good size wednesday and we are going up saturday for the day.TO Tim

HeyNow
Hey Tank - good to see that you and your boy did well this week and that you had a good day yesterday even though the fish were on the small side for darago. Been out only twice so far - did well on perch last Saturday on Erieville res. but same lake, same area on Sunday produced only 4 keepers. Tough to get around with the snow/slush conditions that exist on that lake. Been real busy with buying a new house and the renovations that need to be done so I haven't really had much time to post. Gonna hit the big C today before taking off some more days with housework.Good luck to Tim and the rest of the crew at the upcoming trap attack! Good luck out there on C today I know your anxious to get things buttoned up quick with the house.Tank sounded like you had to bob and weave a little yesterday, good job...Thunderman- Hey how was Oneida or did you head to tusc? cnypanfisher
As reported , good ice in front of Constantia, got a little sloppy at end of the day Friday. We got 4 nice walleyes out by the islands, saw 5 or 6 guys with limits. All in all a good day. Went to BB this morning at 6, was on ice at 6:30 and couldn't buy a bite to save my life. Think i'm gonna try fishing out in the mouth where we were 3 years ago, I guess the lake levels are down, so maybe they aren't where they usually are. Talked to some guys sad they did good Friday, but usually i'm day late and dollar short.:-) TO Tim
tank
Darkcloud and I fished tully today.Bite was slow.Ended up with 1crappie,7 perch and 10 gills and sunnies.6 inches of ice with 3 inches of snow.
RTF
Hey guys ! Been a while I know. Been very busy and today will be my first time out on the ice. Going to Canadarago. Drove around yesterday to some other spots and could not find any safe ice. Forget about the south end of Otsego lake for now. I went to a small local gun club pond that is full of crappie. Went on the ice and the spud went striaght through. Walked a little further out in hopes of thicker icebut no such luck. I think the snow really does insulate the ice. Anyhow getting ready to leave now. Most likely will walk out from the boat launch as thats the easiest place to park. Will let you all know how I make out. RTF
Ok I got out on the big lake. Boy did we freeze our butts off. Way too much wind. Was not as many anglers on this weekend as they were last weekend when I drove by. Started out in 7 f.o.w. , went to 15 f.o.w then finally to 31 f.o.w The only place we marked fish where at 31 ft. Did not get a bite the whole day and came off at around 1 pm as most people did. The south end had 1 vehicle parked there as I drove by on the way home. I walked off from the state boat launch. Talked to another angler and he told me last week, key was 30 + fow and they where coming up from the bottom. Got his limit fast. Edit to say, I'm not happy with the ice. You got snow on top of slushy water then solid ice. Only 4 inches shollow and in 30 fow it was 5 inches. Ice making noises were far and few in-between. But they had their 4 wheelers and sleds out there.
insurance guy
Things are FINALLY ready on the south basin of Lake George! I was out Saturday and Sunday on about 5" of ice with the quad and slammed the perch and lakers! Brought home about 25 perch Saturday afternoon and about 35 yesterday and then I spent about 3 hours jigging up lakers yesterday after the morning perch frenzy and caught 15 and lost a few others! Can't wait to go back this Saturday and rock some more lakers
