Is she crazy?

Or am I getting blindsided?

I spent a good 4-5 days on the water every week this summer with a lot of them going into the wee hours of the morning.

Never been a big hard water guy, as I was never really properly introduced to it.

I always figured it was a good balance for my wife.

Now out of nowhere she says "I was thinking, I'd like to buy you a fishhouse."

Say What? shocked.gif

Do I really want to plunge into this?

I was thinking... maybe I could tag along on a couple skunkaroos to enforce my thoughts. If I go out and catch some fish and have a blast.......it's all over, I just know it frown.gif

Don't do it....the ice can't support another fisherman! grin.gif

I can already see it now- the house will lead to new boots, clothing, rods, tackle, electronics, auger, 4 wheeler, trailer, etc. - then she'll be wishing those words never came out of her mouth!

Just let me know when you want to go.

I seriously cannot remember the last time I was "skunked" on the ice. I've had a few slow days but not very many fishless days.

Maybe we can start you off with something you are familiar with, like channel cats! Woo Hoo!

Come on guys not all women have motives... crazy.gif

Who am I kidding, dtro, best of luck.

If you fish as often as you do, it sounds like it could be sarcasm... becareful of thin ice... On the other hand, maybe, she is interested in ice fishing, and likes to see you happy. shocked.gifshocked.gif

This is why we have not been able to figure women out, they are sneaky, even when they are not trying to be(which is the worst case), and we cannot seem to trust them. We hear the horror stories told to us by friends and family, mostly movies, they say that these movies are not true, you know that it is all possible. anyone for a little Buckcherry, CRAZY(FEMALE DOG)

dtro just for the record I was not referring to your wife in the above statement, that was referring to all women. No matter how nice your woman is they all have potential to rip the things that make you a man at anytime.

Becareful my friend, becareful.

Careful Dtro, the last time my wife wanted to buy me a new piece of outdoor equipment she had her sights set on new diamond earrings.

I would run right to the fish house store and buy a big retractabe wheel house or what ever she has in mind for you to get before she changes her mind, which can happen in a flash. In your heading it say , Is she crazy? I don;t know, but get going on it.

gawd, i wish my wife would drop a bomb like that on me!

Hanson- any advise on what to look for hunting winter channels? - the cat bug bit me last summer and it hasn't seemed to flag as it's gotten colder!

Danger, dtro! Danger!

An old joke, but your post made me think of it.

===============================

Every Saturday morning a man goes fishing. He gets up early and eager, makes his lunch, takes the dog and off he goes for the day. One Saturday morning he gets up early, dresses quietly, makes his lunch, grabs the dog and hops in the car.

Coming out of his garage, rain is pouring down like a monsoon. There is snow/sleet mixed in with the rain, and the wind is blowing at 40mph. He returns the car to the garage, goes into the house and quietly undresses and slips back into bed. There he cuddles up to his wife's back and whispers: "The weather out there is terrible." To which she sleepily replies: "Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in it?"

Hmm.... shocked.gif

There aren't a lot of places to get them through the ice. Horseshoe Chain near Cold Spring, Lake Zumbro near Rochester, and maybe a few others as well. Check out the St. Cloud area forum for more information about the Horseshoe Chain. Ummm... they do put up a good fight under the ice too! smile.gif

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!

    • Bear can relate too. Tell Leech to start a new account named Leech5, we'll know who he is.If he has any trouble, Bear can walk him through it.
