Got in The Simpson's movie, overall it was pretty good even thou I am not a regular watcher of the show. Also the new Halloween movie by Rob Zombie, very gory, sadistic movie. But I like the movie's that Zombie comes out with so I thought it was great.

I just joined Netflix, and am on my second set of 3 movies. I just go off a top 200 list at IMDB.

First movie was "Where the Buffalo Roam",(1984) Bill Murry playing Hunter S. Thompson, kind of like a cheap version of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". O.k. movie, but it skipped a bunch.

2nd was "On the Waterfront" (1956) with Marlon Brando. Great Movie. I would go out and buy this one. Ex boxer Brando during depression era working as a longshoreman. Union problems, mob bosses, and of course there is a girl involved. This is the movie where he says the famous line "I could have been a contender". Again great flick.

Third was "Citizen Kane" (195?) This movie is #1 on a lot of lists. It was strangly good, during the movie I kind of was wondering why this movie is always ranked so high, but take in account when it was made and it is actually a pretty good flick. It's no "Pulp Fiction" though(#1 IMO).

#4 we watched the other night. "Once Upon A Time In America" (1984) DeNiro, Pesci, James Woods. Really good movie about Jewish Gangsters in prohibition era. 4 hours long though but still I would rather sit through 4 hours of that than 5 minutes of a lot of the movies comming out today. Sergio Leonne directed who also did the "Fistfull of Dollars" etc... movies with Eastwood.

Still have to watch two movies before I get my next 3 which are "Seven Samurai" and "Bullit" (Steve McQueen). Probably get to those this weekend.

Farley..."Once Upon A Time In America" is one of my all time favorite movies....I really like the sound track also. I watch at least some of it, every time it comes on tv, same with the God Father, Braveheart, The 13th Warrior, The Last Samauri, Tora Tora Tora etc.

Farley...No, I never seen those, but I may check them out? A long time ago I read one of James Michners books, it was called "Centennial" and I didn't see how any of his other books could come close to being as good....I was wrong!

I wound up reading "Chesapeake" "Hawaii" and one other one I can't think of right now...they were all excellent.

Maybe it's the same with the movies? I just don't see how they could be anywhere near as good as the first, "Once Upon A Time In America" but I think I'll give them a shot, just in case I missed something?

"300" this was an ok movie, if you like watching people get stabbed with spears in slow motion. I watched a history channel special about this event in history a few months ago. The movie had some weird parts that seemed to venture a little off and exagerate a little. But if you like medieval movies its worth seeing.

"Super Bad" This movie was hilarious. It is pretty raunchy, but funny.

You're right about Superbad, raunchy but it was funny from start to finish. Other weekend I watched Rush Hour 3, overall it was pretty good but the 1st 2 were better. Also Balls of Fury, very stupid plot but there were some funny parts in the movie. This is one of those movies where you have to see it for yourself and give an opinion.

I've watched a few more curtesy of Netflix:

"Angles With Dirty Faces"-we got this one because we though it was the movie from "Home Alone" where the guy says "You can keep the change ya filty animal", but it turned out it was based losley on this movie. Was o.k. got some good quotes out of it from the way they talked in the 1920's. It's about a guy who grows up a hoodlum, gets out of prison and returns to his neighborhood in 1920 Brooklyn(I think). It was a decent movie but not what we were expecting.

"Dr. Strangeglove" This one cracked me up, it kind of takes a shot at the political and military process and responisbility of having nuclear weapons. I'd go buy this one to have in the collection.

"Where the Wind Shakes The Barley"-Indy film that won at Cannes in 06' I believe. About a group of Irish guys who rebel against the British occupancy of Ireland 1920. They speak english but we had to turn the subtitles on after the first scene. It was good but kind of hard to follow. Got kinda long, but it was pretty interesting.

I also watched 3:10 to Yuma and enjoyed it. Except the parts when 15 bad guys are shooting at 1 good guy and cant hit him. Then one shot from the good guy and he can shoot anyone. But I guess that is the case with all movies.

With the cold weather this weekend I watched a few movies, Good Luck Chuck & Mr.Woodcock. Good Luck Chuck- The 1st half hour was all T&A if you like those kind of movies, pretty funny throughout the whol movie, Jessica Alba is something else in this movie. Another one was Mr.Woodcock - overall it was ok, would I see it again I doubt it. Its one of those movies where watching it once is satisfying enough.

Has anyone seeing 3:10 to yuma?? Thats the other one I have but havent watched yet, I'm not really into westerns but I heard this is a good one to see.

We seen a couple of movies this past week end also. "Mr. Woodcock", which I thought would be much funnier then it was, there were a couple of funny parts but overall, kind of a boring movie. I would expect more out of Thornton, I've seen him in some pretty good stuff. Watched it once, but wouldn't waste my time watching it again.

The other movie we seen was called "Rescue Dawn"...about a pilot that was shot down over Laos in 1965 and taken captive. The first 10 minutes of the movie, the acting is kind of B grade, but then the acting and the storyline gets much better. It is a depiction of a true story about a pilot named Dieter Dengler, or something like that?

Wasn't to bad...there is one part in the movie where the leading actor rivaled Robert DeNiro in something he did for the Movie "Raging Bull", only in reverse...thats all I can tell you, don't want to ruin it for ya in case you watch it! \:\)

We watched "Zodiac" the other night and I thought it was a good movie. It's one of those movies where you really wonder at the end. Seeing that it was based on a true story it made it more interesting.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the ending of that movie? Did they ever really find out who the real Zodiac was?

Good luck,

Corey...They had an episode on Forensic Files the other night about the Zodiac and they bagged him...figured him out and put the cuffs on em you'll be happy to know. Some military guy decoded his cryptic messages and he slipped up by using a certain symbol and a sharp eyed detective spotted it.

P.S...Is your sign off some kind of Comanche word? grin.gif

Transformers : I couldn't agree with my 5 year old son more. "um, it was OK. well, there wasn't that much battles, and it was mostly just blah blah blah people talking." This movie, for me, didn't live up to all the hype I heard about it. I quite frankly thought it was boring.

Blue Harvest - Family guy : This movie was pretty good. it was only 45 minutes long. It basically spoofs Star wars episode 4. My son is a huge SW fan so I let him watch it. There was some swearing, and some jokes he hopefully didn't understand, but overall it wasn't that bad. And it was Pretty funny. I'd recommend it for any SW fan.

After reading a little about "The 310 to Yuma" I rented it. Not a great movie but... no. Wierd plot? What the heck was that ending all about?

Also rented "Mr.Woodcock". Terrible. I laughed a few times but it was mostly at myself for renting such a bad movie.

Good luck,
