Movie rental reviews...

We rented The Wrestler awhile back and I for one thought it was a dumb movie? I liked M.T. doing her thing, I've always liked her, but even that was a big step down for M.T. she's capable of better movies then that.

On the other hand, botox face Micky Rourke was in the kind of movie he's always in, grade B or less. All that nicey, nicey, stuff with the wrasslers, hugging and politeness and stuff, I'm sure it's exactly like that! Geeze.

Anyways, we paid for it, so I watched it, thats about it.

We watched 'Defiance' last night...first rental movie we have watched in quite awhile. It was a very good movie, I liked it, but I'm not so sure my wife did? I thought that everything about it was good, from the color, to the dialog, to the plot, the actors, everything. I think it was well worth the $4.99 we paid for the rental.

What makes it even better is that it is based on a true story from WWII. I'd reccommend it to anyone....I don't know? Maybe the younger people wouldn't find it very interesting?

I watched a few this weekend and thought it was the worst money spent renting movies.

1st one was Land of the Lost with Wil Ferrel, I thought it was one of the stupidest movies ever. Other one I saw was Year One with Jack Black, no story line was going to shut it off after the 1st 15 minutes but had to watch the rest to see how it turned out.

Wow, no movie rental reviews in quite awhile? We watched "The Hang Over" Friday night...I thought it was pretty funny. Although I don't believe my wife gave it alot of stars, she did laugh at some of the stuff.

After getting back from the Casino last night, we rented "The Taking Of Pellum 123" It was alright right up until it ended, then I didn't even know what the he11 it was that I watched? It just ended? Alot of different story lines that didn't go anywhere, they just stopped?

Trivolta and Washington, excellent actors and you wait for something that never comes?

Not a rental, but ABC Family played "Home Alone:2" the other night. I haven't seen it in years, so it was almost new to me. When the crooks get to the aunt/uncles house, I about cried 50 times I was laughing so hard. Marv grabbing onto the sink that Kevin hooked the welder up to, my gosh, good stuff.

Over the hollidays with many days off I got a few movies in myself.

Taking of Pellum 123 I thought was a good movie not great.

Hangover- Dont rent it buy it, great movie from start to finish laughed pretty much through the whole thing.

Four Christmas's- Was pretty good also, Vince Vahan (spelled wrong) and Reese Witherspoon do a good job in the movie and alos a good supporting cast.

Public Enemies with Johnny Depp- Excellent, you have to like gangster movies set back in the day would reccomend buying it.

The Bastards movie with Brad Pitt- Dont waste your time unless you like reading subtitles throughout the movie.

I usually rent new releases but I've been trying to find older good movies that I've missed or overlooked. For instance, I just saw Shawshank Redemption for the first time about 7 months ago.

This time I rented American History X with Edward Norton. Great flick, a drama about social justice, racism, and family. Made in 1998. I will have to search some websites to find some more good films that I've missed.

I'd like to get on a Western kick. Most of the westerns I've seen I've really liked. I should dig up some of the old John Wayne stuff, or more recently the Clint Eastwood stuff.

Good modern western - "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada"

Classic Western - "The Wild Bunch"

Kinda a western but a good B&W Paul Newman movie - "Hud"

If you like sci-fi at all there is a great scifi western called "Serenity" based off a good tv show that didnt last long called Firefly.

Just watched "The Unforgiven" and "3:10 to Yuma" both good stuff.

The Crazies-Not as good as I originally thought it would be, but still a good movie. Good action and enough gore to keep you entertained. Plus even a very believable storyline.

Legion- Was tired and feel asleep about 30 minutes into this one. Will watch again(awake this time) and give a better review.

The Lovely Bones- My lady wanted this one so I wasn't sure about it. Turned out to be decent. It got a little bit weird at times, but the end is very satisfying.

New Moon- I know this has been out for a little while, and I never really wanted to watch this one(another the old lady wanted). But after watching the first movie and not liking it, this turned out to be a bit of a surprise. I actually enjoyed it! It has that love story embedded in a vampire/werewolf movie thing going, but it still kept my attention.

We watched "hot tub time machine" sunday morning. Good movie for a bunch of guys laying around hungover waiting for someone to cook breakfast. Some really funny parts but mostly cheesy.

Got into the Red Box over the 4th weekend.

Shutter Island- One of those movies you really have to pay attention to, I couldnt get into it and got lost through it.

She's out of my League- very funny, thought it was really good with the cast they had in there.

We watched 'Brothers' the other night and it was okay I guess? I think the lead guys name is Toby McGuire? Anyways, it is the same dude that played Spiderman. He makes a much better Spiderman then he does a Marine officer! I wasn't to thrilled with the acting, nor the plot, seemed to predictable...and I didn't like how it ended. I wouldn't watch it again.

The next night we got 'Green Zone' and it was a fast paced movie starring Matt Damon.....he's a good actor. lots of realistic looking stuff in there....looks like it was actually shot in an arab country? To me, it seems like toward the end, the plot gets kind of sidetracked?

Just rented The Book Of Eli. Was alright. Nothing too special. Worth a 1 dollar rental from Red Box. Also rented The Bounty Hunter. Wasn't all that impressed with it. It was more for the old lady then me anyway.
